    The massive amounts of caterpillars, webs, frass and defoliated trees you are seeing right now is not coming from gypsy moth caterpillars, its from the fall and spring cankerworms. We are having a major outbreak of these native pests and they are doing significant damage to the trees, to the point that a large section of the mountain is brown from trees they have defoliated. Just wanted to clarify since some people are reporting gypsy moth when in actuality it's looper/ cankerworm.
