    [Friday March 3, 2017] – At approximately 3:45 PM a bank robbery in progress call was reported at the Bank of Charles Town on Washington Street, Harpers Ferry. Law enforcement units from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Harpers Ferry and Ranson Police Departments and West Virginia State Police responded.
    A dark skinned male approximately 5’7’ to 5’ 10” fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash undisclosed amount of cash. A WV State Police K-9 unit was called to the scene but was unable to locate the suspect. The robber left a package at the counter and said it was a bomb that would blow up if anyone did anything to impede his escape. The bank employees were escorted from the Bank after police arrived but the package did not contain any explosives.
    The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to take a close look at the picture of the robber, his clothing including his gloves.
