Trump and his fans can sit around all they like and say that it is the liberals who make this country more divisive. Of course, anyone with a reasonable mind, will see right through that. Liberals just want everyone treated like normal human beings, something the conservatives have consistently been unable to do, as they use Christian values to enforce morals on a country that is not by design Christian (and their interpretation of those Christian values is suspect as well). Trump is now taking this to a new level, his decision to ban transgendered service personnel is a punch to the face. Why should able bodied American citizens not be allowed to fight for their country? The cost justification by Trump is a farce and entirely incorrect, as proven by multiple studies (and I love the backlash in which it was pointed out how much money the military spends on erectile dysfunction drugs). But it was great to see the military say "nope, sorry, not right now" to this crap. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-40740788 But of course, at the same time, Sessions filed a brief yesterday indicating that the 1964 Civil Rights Act does not protect the LGBT community, even though it protects against discrimination on the basis of "race, color, religion, sex or national origin." Clearly, this act was designed to protect people from being judged by their differences, versus the heterosexual white community. No amount of legal jargon can take that intent away. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/27/nyregion/justice-department-gays-workplace.html But alas. We are going to have a lot of cleaning up to do once reason returns to our government (either through the departure of Trump, or the return of liberal leaning control of Congress; neither may be that far away). Support those different from you. They are people too. Do not fall for conservative misinterpretations of Christian values, which clearly would not want to us to go down this path. Down with hate.
