OPEN HOUSE AT THE FRIENDS WILDERNESS CENTER Next Saturday, August 11, the Friends Wilderness Center is holding an Open House from 10:00 until 4:00 for those who have been here and for those who have never ventured out here to be in nature. Bring you family, your neighbors, your friends, or anyone you know for a chance to not hear airplanes overhead, sirens blaring, or other common noises you want to tune out. There will be activities for all ages and all energies: - hikes up to the Appalachian Trail or down to the Shenandoah River - a short walk around the pond, - looking at all the things nature gives us along a trail - a walk up to the tree house/camping area, - sitting on the screened porch or outside and talking to new or known friends - hearing about youth involved in international climate change work - sit on the bench by the pond and listen to the frogs. You owe it to yourself and your family and your friends to spend a day in nature and see how great you will feel on your way home, telling yourself you need to do this more often! Lunch will be provided ($10for those 8 and older, $5for those under 8) or you may bring your own for another opportunity to talk with new and known friends (notice I did not say old). Please let Sheila Bach know if you will be joining us on the 11th, how many will be coming with you and if you want lunch. The best way to let us know is to email Sheila at firstname.lastname@example.org. Or call on her cell phone: 571.271.6267. We look forward to seeing you here!
