Anyone want to go in on signs for the AT marking Shannondale Road? That turnoff is easy to miss.

You might want to check with the folks that live up there. They might not appreciate additional AT foot traffic wandering down by their houses and property.

No question they wouldn't appreciate it. But these are all public roads, so they really have no choice in the matter.

Besides, just what type of miscreants do you think wander the AT? http://iconhell.com/i/iconhell_violentstarr_gimmehyehcookes.gif

Probably no one to worry about. I just figured since we all have good friends that live up there, I would favor their interests over the AT hikers.

I dunno. Ask any one of them if it would be okay for a wounded hiker's companion to stop in and use their phone, I bet they'd say YES. And they'd probably offer them lunch too.

Gosh, I would hope they'd help out. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against placing a sign up there. Just figured the cooperation of our neighbors couldn't hurt.

Do you need $$, or help posting the signs? Or both? I could probably help....I hiked the trail in a past life (younger/thinner), and always found everyone to be very cool. I've bumped into thru hikers in HF and taken them home for a hot meal and a shower. People did it for us when we were out there. It's a pretty neat thing these days, when noone trusts anyone.

Well, we don't really need money. I was just wondering what everyone thought about the idea.

Tonight at the Halloween Party both Pcat and I were able to actually (albeit briefly) discuss this with one of the people at the top of the mountain. Sid seemed to be all in favor of it.

Oh. I must have misunderstood your post, "go in on". Well, if you need me.....:)
