Public Hearings will be held tomorrow night at 7:00 in the basement of the Charles Town Library. On the agenda are two projects in our area.

1. Final Plat Public Hearing for "American Acres - Lake Forest II"

33 single family homes on the east side of Mission Road 1 mile
past the Mount Mission Park.

2. Final Plat Public Hearing for "Richard West Minor Sub Division"

2 houses on the North East Side of John Browns Farm Road,
app. 1/3 mile from Mission Road.

I don't know anything at all about these projects or what they may have planned for tree cutting. They are on the Planning Commission agenda for tomorrow night, so this would be a chance for people to voice their concerns regarding trees, traffic, emergency services, etc, even if it is only to ask the questions. These may even be developments that we would welcome, we won't know without going to the hearing to find out.

It will be a good opportunity to see how these things work and what issues they consider when approving them or turning them down.

I know this is not much notice but the more people who can make it to Charles Town tomorrow night the better. We should try to come up with a way of finding out about these proposals and posting sooner.

I attended the planning commission meeting on these. They had 15 items on the agenda and went through them pretty quickly. They approved without discussion any of them that had no public comment. Those that did have public comments received a lot more attention, and in some cases the exceptions were denied.

Neither of the two subdivisions on Mission Road had citizen comments at all and so both were approved. Commission member John Sims did ask a question regarding the Lake Forest II proposal. He wanted to be certain that the 33 homes would be the total allowed on the entire 331 acres. Once assured of that the vote was 6 in favor, none opposed, and one abstention.

So, John, can you tell us if there were any terrorists at the meeting? You've got to know by the books they peeked at while they were at the library......

TB,

Terrorists were there for sure. Some of them had clearly been reading radical and unpatriotic texts such as the "United States Constitution", and a perfectly devious tract called the "Bill of Rights". I suspect some had even glanced over the Bible.

Horrible creatures all, no doubt.
