The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County (AWSJC)and Petco work together to show some of the cats available for adoption.
Here is my weekly Petco Cat of the Week with pictures and my best explanation of their personalities.

If anyone wishes to adopt please contact the AWSJC @ (304) 725-0589. Also these names and numbers will help on the days listed:
Monday 5-7pm Jane 820-8209
Wednesday 5-7pm Janet 876-0892
Saturday 9am-Noon Dixie (301) 788-8677

The cost of adoption for cats is $80 once you have been approved. All cats are neutered and have their shots.

This week we have a mostly all black female short hair cat named Sheryl. Sheryl is 11 months old and was brought in to the shelter as a stray back in July 2008 when she was just 3 months old. She is very friendly and will jump in your arms and loves attention. She is also very playful.

This may be 'THE ONE'

Very spunky.

Went to see Europe last week, but her not liking to be held was a problem for us...we need someone who will let my 3YO love on them...which sometimes includes picking up.

This one might be it. I'll go see her.

This one "seriously" leaped out of the cage into my arms when I opened the door. Very friendly.

Let me know how it goes.

SB ended adopting a stray cat that was hanging around her Grandmothers house. So Sheryl is still there. Very happy cat, purrs alot and loves to be held and pet. Seems to get along with other cats.

Sheryl is sweet as pie and loves loves LOVES to be loved and petted and held. It's hard to clean her cage because she wants to be in your arms the whole time! If you want a lovey dovey kitteh, she be the one!

I went to PETCO this PM with the Wormeister and displaced air while she cleaned the shelter's cages. Unfortunately while displacing air, I took a peek at the kitties. I'm about "THIS CLOSE" to adopting one. I know all about AA but is there a Cats Anonymous chapter nearby

So Sheryl is now named Seril. Apparently someone could'nt tell the difference between male and female. This cat is MALE!!!

Still a sweety... either way.

Awww he looks JUST like my old kitymeowfuss, Merlin! Him's adorable!
(I also had that happen back in '89/'90 w/ my cat, Aslan; however, "he" ended up being a "she", LOL)

The only cure, Willis, is to adopt a companion for Bunch! She needs a furpal!

Yay, Seril found a forever home.

That's really awesome. Unfortunately I'm more allergic to cats than I am to dogs, or a few of these would be really tempting. It's great that you guys are helping these cats like this. Kudos to all of you. :)
