The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County (AWSJC)and Petco work together to show some of the cats available for adoption.
Here is my weekly Petco Cat of the Week with pictures and my best explanation of their personalities.

If anyone wishes to adopt please contact the AWSJC @ (304) 725-0589. Also these names and numbers will help on the days listed:
Monday 5-7pm Jane 820-8209
Wednesday 5-7pm Janet 876-0892
Saturday 9am-Noon Dixie (301) 788-8677

The cost of adoption for cats is $80 once you have been approved. All cats are neutered and have their shots.

Featured this week, a 7 month old, female named Carrie. She is a bit timid, but loves to be held and is so soft, like a bunny. Very sweet little girl. She is a gray, brown tabby. I think she will be on the small side.

What's up with all the black cats at PetCo? Isn't Chomper the forth or fifth one out of the 12 you've posted?

Girlyjeep, you need to take Willis back in there and not let him leave until he has a playmate for Bunch. I can vouch for the craziness factor that certain black cats have. If Bunch doesn't like black cats, then maybe Carrie, who resembles Bunch, would be a better fit.

Good luck finding great homes for these guys and gals!

Black cats are the most often abandoned, they say, b/c of the superstition...

Every black cat I've ever had, or come across, has been a character.

My one now either hides in the corner, or you can't keep him off you. One or the other. He's crazy as s*** when he gets ahold of the catnip, too. He also wakes me up every morning by sitting on my butt and kneading my lower back, which feels GREAT.

I highly recommend black cats to everyone. They're not like other cats.

I was really looking at one of the all black cats. So it figures my new one is entirely white.

Still a character tho.

My black cat definately has personality. We call him space cadet.. he's just out there sometimes. He talks to walls and likes to take baths with me. I want another cat but the hubby says no :(

I know there are others looking for homes for cats, but I wanted to post that these two are still @ Petco.
Both are extremely friendly and lovable, Carrie is so soft and very gentle.

I was holding Carrie Wed afternoon and what a total sweet little cat. If Jasper wasn't so rough with Hattie she would have come home with me.

At least, mine didn't. We took both pooches into Petco earlier to get more dog food and snacks. Stopped by to visit with Carrie and Gideon's yappy puppy barking didn't seem to bother her a bit. She just gave him that condescending feline stare that let him know without her having to make a sound that he isn't the alpha anything as far as she's concerned. :D

She's such an incredible sweetheart. I hope she finds a good home.

I'm thinking the metal probably cool against her fur. Can't speak for cats but even though we have the AC on our dogs prefer laying on the hardwood floor in front of the front door vs. the carpet.

so it looks like Carrie may have found a forever home. There was some paperwork there to adopt her when I went to clean cages this morning.

Crossing fingers.....
