Several folks approached me after the talk whom I referred to this forum. If you're reluctant to log onto the message forum, you can contact me by email at [email protected] If you have to type that remember it's friends, not fiends! I'll be posting something soon about a late Winter cleaning party. And remember that the URL for much more about the springs is www.shannondale.org/foss It was a pleasure to present a talk to so many interested folks[exclam1][exclam1]

Willis, your presentation was very well received! I was surprised and impressed at the number of attendees too. You are better at this than you realize ...

I'll send them along with the following note:

Willis Nowell of Shannondale and Beyond, the Blue Ridge Mountain's community website
presented a talk about the once World renown and now principally hidden historic treasure,
Shannondale Springs. The presentation was well received by a standing room only crowd of over 50 attendees
at the Old Charles Town Library On Thursday, January 12th. Among the questions asked were: what was
the lure of this place that played host to as many as 13 U.S. Presidents and was once called James
Monroe's Summer White House? What kept these lofty politicos, and other statesmen, business moguls
and luminaries of the arts returning again and again? Why were such elegant facilities situated in
Jefferson County? And, why haven't you heard of this prestigious resort?

The program offered answers to the above questions and many more. FOSS or Friends Of Shannondale Springs invites all to visit their presentation at
www.Shannondale.org. Just look for the Jefferson County Museum Icon on the Homepage. Much more information
is available at the website. FOSS is currently asking for volunteers to help maintain the Springs
and enjoy the opportunity to with others interested in preserving a historical treasure. FOSS is
also available to present talks, similar to that mentioned earlier, to groups and organizations.
The only requirement is a love of local history.

Willis and others members of Shannondale and Beyond want to express their wholehearted thanks for
the gracious welcome provided by the Old Charles Town Library and The Jefferson County Museum,
which also provided exhibits from their Shannondale Springs collection to augment the show. Remember
to visit the museum, situated just underneath the library when it reopens for the season April,
1st(No Foolin'!!). The delicious beverages and cookies were icing on the proverbial cake.
