Does anyone here have borage? It's died on me twice in the past two years; and most of my other herbs are doing well, is there a trick?

Also, is anyone planting anything cool?

I got some from the herb guy n' lady at the Saturday Farmers Market. They have just about everything and will bring something you ask for the next week.

I've been working on my little walk around herb garden bit by bit. Nothing fancy schmancy yet, though.

I've got gobs of huacatay, the Peruvian herb...it seeds itself so it can be invasive, but it makes great sauces n' things. KatA has a bunch, too. I'm happy to share with folks if you need some, just bear in mind they can take over.

I have nice little bayleaf that's doing really well!

I have some incredible books Mom gave me. I haven't even had time to go through them. You are welcome to borrow some, I trust you with Rosie's stuff.

Man y'all are light years ahead of me. I'm just awesomely impressed with myself that my orchids are not dead yet after six weeks and a re-potting. Well, the white one has had TWO repottings, what with DH kicking it over just this evening...I don't know what he did but he didn't just knock it over, but he practically sent it flying, the big oaf! Knocked it totally out of its pot :(

Oh, and my jade, after a repotting, has one little stem...no leaves, but a stem, that's been surviving (the other stems died quickly) for a couple of weeks now. I'm hoping for the best.

Jade plants...I have killed at least two, if not three. Have fun with that.

Jades live for me, they thrive on utter neglect.

Orchids have always intimidated me, and my tropicals keel over and die, I'm suspecting it's because of wet feet as JT told me, but I might as well throw them in the trash as soon as I buy them.

I'm desperately seeking scented geraniums, the guy at the farmers market with all the herbs has failed me so far. Anyone know any other nurseries that have them?

Have you tried Meadows, or the ladies on the side of the road on 9? Their geraniums keep catching my eye.

No, I'll check there today if the farmers market guy still does not have them.

Gardens of Delight had a bunch of scented geraniums last year, if I remember right. Pricey, but they did have them. It's the place on Rt 9 by the Paeonian Grocery and the Shell station....just off 7.

I've gotten most of my scented geraniums in Purcellville at Abernathys. Seems to me that they root pretty easily, any of you are welcome to take cuttings from mine. My fave is the rose scented one, just brush by it and you've been "scented". I have a kinda nutmeg one and a really wierd one that I got this spring, the leaves are real fuzzy and it has a sorta minty scent.

I'm proud of my little herb garden this year. It's a little scraggly from the rain, but you get the idea.

I was so delighted with how my basil looked mixed in with black-eyed susans and volunteer grape tomatoes last year that yesterday I dug up a small area in the front and planted mint, basil, and rosemary, mixed with nicotiana from the reseed patch, and little petunias. I know mint can take over, so I'm I got a clay pot, chipped the bottom out of it, sank it about halfway, and planted the mint in there to see if I can contain it that way. And being a lover of fresh basil I've got a patch planted in with the black-eyed susans again this year. Even found a little sprout that was a reseed from last year while I was weeding yesterday.

But yesterday's real fun discovery was that my original compost bed is so done now that I've got honkin' big fat worms pretty much throughout it. Was so excited I had to call my daughter. She says she has trouble explaining me to her friends...

That could go so many unpleasant places that involve shows on TLC and Discovery...

I planted lemon-thyme & lime-basil this year for herb butters for fish, etc. I have to replant them, though, as the soil is way too dense & full of nitrogen. Too much poop!

...at the Lowes in Martinsburg on Saturday. I noticed the tag says it's an annual, not a perennial. Is it one of those self seeding plants that becomes and annual if you don't bury it in mulch?
