BAKER, LA (WAFB) - A child care worker said finding a dime bag of marijuana in a toddler's shoe was something she never thought possible, until it happened Thursday morning.
Wanda White, owner of First Steps Academy in Baker, remembered her reaction when a two-year-old girl complained to White about her foot hurting. When White looked in the child's sneaker, she found a bag of weed worth about $10.
"What if she had eaten it and taken sick or died?" White wonders.
She said she immediately called police and child protective services.
"No matter how it looks on the mother that I love dearly. No matter how it looks on me. How it looks on the center. It's all about the child, so that's why we did what we did," White explained.
Nacausha Spears, 27, of Clinton was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and simple possession of marijuana.
According to Baker police, Spears denied knowing anything about the drugs found in her daughter's shoe. Child protective services is conducting an investigation.
