Okay... now I'm confused: Why are there two 'open' Road Conditions threads??
Okay... now I'm confused: Why are there two 'open' Road Conditions threads??
Yeah I'm wondering the same...
Some have ended up in a completely unrelated thread in the "ugly" forum.

There is an open thread titled: Road Conditions in Local/General Area-Post Blizzard 2010 and
one titled: Road Conditions-2/15/2010 which is stickied to the top of general. What's the problem? The second will be closed as soon as tonite's threat has passed.
Some have ended up in a completely unrelated thread in the "ugly" forum.
If you're not satisfied, report the "misplaced" threads/posts. The forum has a report post button.

Willis, I understand the "Sheesh" Perhaps there should just be a general stickied road condition thread, rather than having another post blizzard thread (where road conditions are still updated, along with fights, etc.) opened at the same time.
Including the snowfall right before Xmas, we'd have had a thread with hundreds and hundreds of replies if we hadn't restarted a new thread, As it is, the Post Blizzard thread-which was renamed twice because of the second wallop, has way to many replies to search effectively. Hey, we've never moderated a Storm of the Century. We're flying by the seat of our pants. I'm sorry if I'm getting a little testy. Aren't we all.
We've promised ourselves to attend the next symposium on moderating a community website's forum when it's held on Maui. What?, there's no such thing. Drat!. Then we'll have to keep on learning here. And you all are going to have to keep learning with us. Try to keep the horses**t to a minimum, couch your replies so your moms would approve, stop the GD complaining and use the report post button, and maybe we'll get thru this.
If you can't abide by a few general standards of social decorum, go elsewhere. It's certainly not going to affect my or any of the other mods' bottom lines. Get along or just get along:rolleyes:

You wanted an example, this here thread in "Ugly" - and at least one of the posts in it - is a prime one...

It really is very easy to deal with. If you don't like how management does things then don't use the board.
I'm not always happy with the choices mgmt makes, but I just remind myself that I don't have to read/post on the board so if it bugs me that much I can just simply move on.

And it sure does appear that over the past year or so that more than a few have exercised that option.
OTOH, the "management" has made it clear that they are making changes based upon what the S&B users want. THAT invites comment - and sometimes criticism - of the tasks undertaken.

Let's face it...they are going to do what they are going to do. I'm just saying that if it ever gets to the point where it is really bugging you then just step back. I've done that on a few occasions.
That being said, I would never want to be a moderator. Too much aggrivation IMO...luckily, there are some who are willing to deal with it.

Too much aggrivation IMO...luckily, there are some who are willing to deal with it.Back in the 1980's and 90's, I was involved in running a few different BBSes, all connected to other BBSes via various packet-type networks. You want to talk about aggravation, I think that back in those days, if you looked up the word in a dictionary, you'd find a cross-reference to things like FidoNet and RelayNet. ;)

Nowadays, teachers are told they should stay away from red pens because it evokes negativity.
Anyway.... I have liked the stickies at the top of the pages. It kept me from having to wade through the other stuff. One-click and I was there! I also found it helpful to have the titles updated that way I knew what days we were discussing. I think the moderators have been doing a great job with the snow info.

We plan to keep on learning new tricks, even tho there's this old dog on board. AND we're trying to incorporate suggestions from users when feasible. First BIG emergency+new software+volunteer workforce=a few missteps. Bear with us. I know that everyone is on edge. I'm generally a pretty even keeled guy-not a snippy poopyhead :)

I think Willis being a snippy poopyhead can be added in to the whole unprecedented storm thing....since Willis is never a snippy poopyhead, 'cept for this once!

IMHO considering all the effort that Willis puts into our community he can rant when ever he he feels like it!

Oh, I agree....he's more entitled than the rest of us, I think. I just wanted to point out what an historical event it was that he even did!
