We picked up our two new family members from AWS today. They were finally big enough to come home with us! The gray one is Shelby and the Calico is Enzo. Can you guess who picked out the names and why? They really like our bed. I'm afraid I will now have to share my bed with my husband and 4 cats! Thank goodness it's a king size.

The grey one looks like our Spooky... 4 cats yikes.
Hopefully at least you won't have any problems with mice!

Do they have that rivalry also?

No rivalry between the two. They were buddies at the shelter and have been running around here together all afternoon. Our 12 year old Siamese, Cisco, came in and checked them out for about 5 minutes, lost interest, and headed back downstairs to his couch. Our 3 year old Calico, Juniper, has been hissing if she is near them, then she runs and hides under the couch. Looks like the little ones are in charge of the house today. Notice the naming theme with Cisco and Juniper too?

I'm guessing Shelby = Carroll Shelby and Enzo = Enzo Ferrari?

So Cute!!! But there's got to be some rule against too much cuteness. :)

Your grey kitten has more white on its nose then Spooky..
But it still looks pretty close to me.

DING DING DING!!!! We have a winner.

Shelby (The mid hair grey kitten) was the one that sold me on the pair. She met every criteria that I wanted to match the naming convention. She had to be a bluish grey ball of fluff with white paws and those famous SHELBY stripes on the hood, errr nose. I may never be able to afford a SHELBY COBRA, but I have a little V8 furball with a four barrel Purr-burator.

Now if we could get Juniper and the two kittens to stop hissing at each other. Guess it takes time. Cisco, the Siamese, is totally fine with the fuzz balls.

In the end they will work out how to either be friends or to just be aloof and not bother each other. I have three cats and the youngest one just turned 1 yr old in may. so to say he wanted to play with the other two was an understatement. but now after being fixed and has "settled" down all get along fine. 3 cats and 2 dogs. all living in harmony. Cute kittens you have!

Both kittens have appointments to be spayed in two weeks. AWS allowed us to bring them home as long as we brought them back in for their spaying, which is payed for by the shelter.

The shelter scheduled us an appt at Appletree today to have the cats spayed. Guess what? Turns out we have a boy and a girl, not two girls. The boy kitty is doing fine, but the female kitty is tripping over her feet. Guess she's still groggy. Neither one of them have had food or water since 6pm last night. The instructions we received for after care say no food, but a tiny bit of water tonight, then they can have food and water tomorrow. Does that seem like too long for two kittens to go without anything?

Hmm, if they would be mine then I would feed them some canned food. Maybe light, like half fare. We would feed them basically when they won't choke on the food or drown in the water bowl from the drowsies anymore. It's your call though. Sure they can make it just fine til tomorrow, but I would hate to go to bed on a growling tummy.

Neither one seem interested in eating or drinking. Guess I'll leave them be. They've been mostly sleeping.
