Hi Neighbors!

I have several handfulls of fresh-cut basil and dill to give away. I just trimmed the herbs back this morning I have way more than I can possibly use at once since it grows so quickly.

I hate to just toss it out so if anyone would like it, feel free to come and get it! :) I also have a bit of basil that has roots, if you'd like that too.

I'm at Gate 1, fyi.

We grow fresh herbs too. I love using the dill in my ranch dips, on fish and chicken.

You can just dry and use it this winter too - if you have no takers. I just spread the herbs on newspapers and let the dry, then store them in plastic bags or canning jars. The basil I dried last fall was very good and really nice to have around for cooking - used up the last of it, just in time for this spring's new crop.

Not to hijack but I also have oregano, thyme and lemon balm to give away. - same deal, cut a bunch and can't use it all - there will be plenty more to come.

KatA will you be coming to the book club on Monday night? If so I will gladly take a bunch of your thyme and lemon balm, and try drying them the way you suggested. The herbs I dried last winter became moldy even though I put them in vacuum-sealed bags. :(

(I can also return the planters you lent me when you gave me the asters, which are doing GREAT, btw.)

Monday is my late day so I don't get to Mission Road area until around 8:00 pm and am generally very anxious to just get home. I will be working from home Tuesday though and we could meet up somewhere that day.

Shoot! I will be leaving to visit my in-laws for 4 days on Tues. No big deal, it was worth a shot. :) I'll get those planters back to you sometime. Scout's honor! :)

If you have a dehydrator... herbs can dryed with them.

Most herbs also freeze pretty well.
We cut em up and freeze them in zip lock bags (it can raise some interesting questions/comments when co workers go to grab some ice). We also make pesto and freeze it in the same fashion. Just break off chunks as needed.

I use a dehydrator........ usually only takes a couple of hours..... basil scented house!! You can get a decent dehydrator for $20-30...... makes great deer jerkey too!!

I always have oregano, thyme, tarragon, and lemon balm, and likely sage pretty much 24/7 until the frost. PM me and we will work out getting some to you.
