53 Horses, 2 Cows Seized-Suffering from Malnourishment In Berkely County
MARTINSBURG - Berkeley County police and animal control officials said Monday they are desperately seeking permanent homes for 53 horses and two cows seized from a local equine rescue shelter after they were found malnourished and underfed this weekend.
The horses and cows were seized after a search warrant obtained by Deputy Scott Myers of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department was executed Saturday at the Hidden Meadows Equine Rescue on 227 Edward Drive in Berkeley County.
"We received a complaint of possible cruelty to some horses from a neighbor, at which time they investigated and found that, in fact, there were horses on this property ... that were in really bad shape," Capt. Scott Richmond said Monday.
Richmond said the 53 horses seized did not include one horse that was found already dead when police executed the warrant and a second horse found nearly dead that officials were forced to put down.

It breaks my heart. Not much of a "rescue" for the poor animals involved.

This is the worst kind of neglect, because if people had known what would happen they might have tried to find another home more willing or able to care for the poor things.

FYI, not that I really know the situation in particular other than the fact animals being mistreated at an Animal rescue:mad:, I have taken it upon myself to share this info with as many sites that have posted this company's contact information. I am asking these web sites that offer this contact information to post the article regarding this horrible situation and asking for the sites to disclaim the actions (which should be rather obvious) and to speak how terrible this is. I know it is not much, but it is something I can do, not for me but the animals involved. After all, the more people who know about a situation, the more people there are that can work together to fix a situation.
These are sites that I have emailed so far to inform them of this situation in case they don't know as of yet. All are contact information from the web as the company could still collect funds even as an investigation continues:

Who ever thought you could fight back certain situations with a computer, but I think this is proof, lets just hope it helps the four legged friends involved now.
