Either day, not both - Maybe 2 trucks and 4-6 hardy souls, a couple chain saws, weed/brush cutters, and the usual hand tools and "stuff" - to spend about 4 hrs. maybe from 11AM or 12Noon - 3 or 4PM. The purpose: to do some of the "heavy work"(and spraying around the Bathhouse) so our May 7th trip is a more leisurely experience.

Unfortunately, I'll be out of town next w/e. or I'd be there.

I suppose I can Hanker all I want, but I got no takers. Gobbler season opens on the 24th and that will limit trips to the Springs to Sundays till the end of May. I want to get down there to do some clearing of brush and some selective weed spraying before our trip on the 7th of May(sans any little ones). In between catscans, Easter, Dr.'s appts and taking care of my Mom, I'd still like to make the trip with a few able bodied FOSSies.

News Flash!
I did get a taker. KevinT, a neighbor and a "Board Lurker" offered to drive me into the Springs and also to tote around the backpack-sprayer I bought. We(lol, Kevin) sprayed the path to the fountain, we cut a rough path to the site of the Presidential Cottages' ruins and sprayed the pavilion area that KatherineA and Bruce had so assiduously cleared in February.

Gobbler season is still a couple of weeks away and I'm still game to do a tad more clearing. The Bluebells are in rare form and the Dutchman's Breeches are beginning to bloom. spring Beauties, Cut Leaf Toothwort, GADZOOKS, there are so many things to see. BTW, KatherineA., I've collected some of that "magic" water for your soap making process!!

What time are we thinking, sp? Do we have any other takers. WHOOPS, this Sunday is EASTER. Trash Pickup on the 22nd- I suppose, if I'm not worn out, we could do the 23rd. Anyone else want to go in to do some work? More time for fun on the 7th!!!

I may try to go down this Fri. afternoon and just walk back, unless you think it's too soon after the spraying. The weed wacker is pretty light, and I'll have a 15 y.o. up visiting who could help me out with raking up.

The only folks who might question you would be Larry Hines, the supervisor of the WMA and Ken White the CO. Tell them you've checked with Willis Nowell and he's given you the go ahead. We sprayed in a limited area- the path to the fountain bowl, the area around the door to the Bathhouse, a trail to the ruins of the presidential cottages and in and around the pavilion area in front of the BH.
We did hardly anything up by the old farm site and, of course, didn't go near the beach or the spring with the spray. I'd like to get a lawnmower back there as we dicussed during our last visit. One of those self-propelled guys with the oversized wheels. Anyone out there willing to lend one to the cause?
