I came across this last year, if you have a problem with mice moving in for the winter, you can deter them with peppermint. Get some peppermint essential oil and saturate some cotton balls, put the balls in the area where the mice are. They will leave. Mice is seems are allergic to peppermint. I tried this and it works. My problem was in my kitchen. I have to replace the oil about every 3 wks. but the kitchen smells great and the mice leave. If you can figure out where they are coming in plant some peppermint around the area. They will not be coming in there while the peppermint is there. It has to be the essential oil though, Extract is not affective.
They seem to have a pretty good reaction to traps as well :-)
- Noting that if some nice smelling oil will keep them out... its worth a try.
Thanks for posting.

Cats work pretty good too. Now if they'd just remove the bodies I'd be happy. I hate stepping on a well played with mouse in the morning.

Our cats suck at catching mice. Then again, ours are ninja mice who climb the walls and are generally super sneaky.
