Frederick Sparklers Synchro Takes 1st Place in Charleston

The Frederick Sparklers Open Juvenile team took 1st place at the Mountain State Synchro Skate this past weekend (November 20, 2010). Mountain resident Julia Gallo and former resident Casey Summerlin are on the team and Casey assists with coaching.

That's like, Uh, State Champions Huh? Congratulations Julia, Casey, the other skaters and in no small way, the parents who supported all of them. Sheesh, it's not like synchronized swimming or dancing. if one of the skaters gets out out of kilter. the whole group goes splat. I got dizzy watching

US Figure Skating (http://www.usfigureskating.org/Events.asp) divides the county into areas and we are in the Eastern one. Most of these teams, if they qualify by being in the top 10 or so teams in the region, go to the Eastern Regional competition. A few go on to Nationals, which sees the top teams from the other regional competitions.
