International Sunday at Oakland Church

On April 23, 2006, Oakland Church in Charles Town, WV, will be hosting an International Sunday, which will be a day devoted to bringing awareness of what is happening to the church throughout the world.

Senior Pastor JoAnne Alexander says that she hopes that the celebration will ?raise awareness of the health of the church in other countries.? Her message on International Sunday will include stories of faith and how Christianity and the church have grown in other nations told by immigrants hailing from Indonesia, Korea, Pakistan, Jamaica, and India, to name a few.

Oakland Church will also host an International Gift Shop, which will be open from noon to 7:00 pm. Purchases from the shop will provide income, dignity, and hope to people in developing regions of the world through SERVV International, a non-profit alternative trade and development organization.

At 4:00 pm, following the worship services, Oakland will then host an international dinner, highlighting various countries represented in Oakland?s congregation. Some of the countries represented include China, Greece, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Korea, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Thailand, and, of course, the USA. Tickets for the dinner cost $5.00 ($3.00 per child) and need to be purchased.

Oakland Church has two worship services at 9:00 and 10:45 am. Tickets for the International Dinner may be purchased online through PayPal from Oakland?s website at www.Oakland-Church.net or by stopping by the church office at 70 Oakland Terrace in Charles Town.
