I'm thinking I may just have to buy an FV 432 just to tool around Shannondale. See what happens next time some doof insists on holding the center of the road instead of pulling to the right so we can both pass each other.

You can't get it tagged or street legal. I know this for a fact, I had a chance to purchase a WW II half track several years ago.

Well ATVs aren't legal on our roads either, but we see and hear them every day. So we'll just call it an ATV, and I'll use it to run over all of the smaller ATVs.

OK, so you can rent a car, you can rent a plane, you can rent a machine gun... somewhere, I can rent one of these, right? Right?
Although the Willies might have been the original ATV... the early FV 432 have to rank as one of original protypes in my mind (plus once you add the plow attachment)...

Of course. Tanks a Lot (http://www.tanks-alot.co.uk/) in the UK is probably the biggest renter. They supply them to movie companies and anyone who just wants to play with one.
There are other places, including at least one in the US whose name escapes me. And there's still a fair amount of that stuff for sale, despite Bill Clinton's executive order which prohibits any exported US military equipment from coming back into this country. It doesn't stop British or Russian stuff though, so that stuff still gets in all the time.

Notes to kkrapf:
* Hold the home improvements, a higher-priority budget item has come up.
* Book tickets to UK.
* Reserve cargo space on largest available vessel from UK back to US.

Actually there's an outfit in Aqua Dulce, CA that has a ton of FV 432's and British tanks for sale. They sell through one of my favorite brokers in such things:

If buying an FV 432, spend the extra money and get the Diesel version. Better performance and easier maintenance in the long run.

$47,000 for a running FV432? If we get 24 people to go in, that's only $2000 apiece and we will never have unplowed roads in Shannondale again. It practically pays for itself, really.

And since LE is very open and up front with regards to a no chase policy... 24 people would make it easy to just keep it going and never get caught...

I don't think "chase" has quite the same meaning with a vehicle that only makes 32 MPH but weighs 15 tons.

I'm in but only if I can use it to deter tailgating. This might be as good as my hay spike idea.
