I put this in Thunderdome because the subject itself is controversial but this is a good message that I couldn't wait to share:

My street, Conifer Ct, is a hotbed for young kids with ATV's and Hoopdee's, we don't get too bothered by them but we see/hear them and I have never been quite sure if they are the exact ones that are mentioned on here, I venture to say they are part of the problem.

Well, my husband my have been aggravated last night when he came home, and he went up to the top of the court, all the kids were out working on cars and stuff and he told them "Look I pay to have the entrance to our community (Conifer) kept clean, and I want you all to grab shovels and rakes, and put all that gravel back where it is supposed to be" (I quoted, but it is paraphrased how he told me). Guess what they immediately grabbed the equipment, went down to the bottom of the hill and cleaned the street, and very nicely we might add.

Those who know my husband know he is kind of a no nonsense guy and he is not even privy to these conversations on the forum but he just went to them mano-e-mano and look what happened. He didn't even have to talk to the two parents up there.

A lot of our problem riders (and drivers) come from the top of your hill (the New Years Jeep is an example).
In fact I think the black and red Yamaha that I stopped in my neighborhood yesterday is from up there.
- On a positive note, he stopped, was polite, left our neighborhood at speeds that exceed our posted limit (but left).
- The very young girl he had on the back was not at all dressed for riding (but hey, safety gear does not look cool).

They rode down Mission to the Foodway (Wagners or what ever else you want to call the little store on Mission) and hit the Jefferson County DNR managed ATV trail system behind it. Later that day I got to watch my friends on the yellow and dark green ATV's tear up the side lawn of the little store before blasting back into that same WV managed ATV trail system.

Yep, its safe to say that the ATV's and dirt bikes that breached our property from the WV wildlife management area (WMA) pissed me off when they decided to tear up our neighborhood on their way though to Riverside or Rock Ferry Station again last night. My guess is that the change we would see this week from the meeting at the sherriff's office last week is increased activity and an increase in the numbers of riders that our out and about. Hummmmm, maybe they got some under cover riders out cruising with them... naaaaaa, those golks are way to smart for something like that to have happen.

Since when have ATVs been allowed on the WMA? When I used to hunt there it was posted no motorized vehicles.

It is posted but they ride there with impunity and have torn it up (including the nice pavilion that used to be down there)

Next time you drive by the Campfire Girls WMA, check out the ATV super highway entrance from Mission Road - almost directly in front of where J.B. Farm Road intersects Mission. I really think I could drive my truck through there now.

Road Trip! of course, in a truck, you'd be arrested in a New York minute.

Isn't a truck without plates, registration and insurance just like an ATV around here (see thread on NYE fire where the Jeep was burned on top of the mountain with no ticket or fine). Given that, "arrest" seem very harsh!

I'd probably be arrested in a NY minute if I road my bicycle down there, let alone the truck. However, if I "borrowed" a neighbor's ATV, I would probably be able to ride all day and could break a new path to visit LFE. :)

The virgin forest is nothing more then an open canvass used for ATV art around here.
- At least the defoliated forest is not a EPA - Chessapeake Watershed concern to anyone around here.

And isn't it a great thing that our problem riders listened to me tell them just to stay in the woods, and chances are no one would really care!
