July 27, 2011. Beijing. In an attempt to capture a larger share of the booming Chinese market, General Electric announced that it was moving its X-Ray technology headquarters from Wisconsin to China. While GE is one of the largest military suppliers in the world, it is also the parent of the NBC broadcasting group of companies. Ironically enough, GE’s CEO is Jeff Immelt, the same man President Obama anointed as America’s Jobs Czar.

It must make it easier for GE not to pay their taxes if they are out of the country. I have been boycotting GE and NBC and any affiliates i can find since i found out they dont have to pay their taxes.

About this time last year, GE closed a factory in Winchester that made incandescent light bulbs. 200 people lost their jobs. GE says that because incandescent bulbs will be phased out in the next few years they couldn't keep the plant open. However, they are now having the same bulbs made by a company in Mexico. All of GE's compact fluorescent bulbs are manufactured offshore.

What's wrong with an American company "capturing a larger share of the booming Chinese market"? Seems like really good business sense. Lots more imaging to do over there than here, why wait for the Germans to move in and capture the market?

Did you read this with your glasses on Tony??I briefly glanced at it a month ago when it was actually news. But I haven't given it much thought since then. No Americans are losing their jobs, and GE stands to make a lot of money in the Chinese market. I don't see a downside. Especially if we can get them to actually pay some taxes on those profits.

I suppose I can understand some people getting upset that Obama appointed a Republican as "job czar". It sounds like another do-nothing post like the "drug czar" and the "education czar".
