I have to admit that the driver is a bit of an A--Hole but since when does being and A--Hole call for a death penalty? If that were the case we would have a lot fewer progressive liberals. Hmmmmm!!!

I hate to say it, but the times that I've encountered our own road-side cyclists, I would have LOVED to have that at my disposal... or, at least some loose cow manure on the back of the truck.
I guess that makes me an @sshole, huh?

Well, if one were to intentionally blow deisel smoke on people riding bikes on the shoulder of a scenic road than that would make them an asshole. The problem is, JediKnight, that the folks we have riding around here frequently don't ride on the shoulder, or there is no shoulder or they ride 2 or even 3 abreast. Although I'm sure there are exceptions, but I have only observed them tending to be rude and generally undeserving of any compassion, at all.

I live in this area and have not seen these rude bicyclist gangs for whom compassion is undeserved.Consider yourself fortunate. Out in the 'flats' they regularly "occupy" Summit Point Road, Earle Road, Huyette Road and several others. On more than one occasion, (one of which is documented elsewhere on S&B), I encountered one of "these rude bicyclist gangs" riding three abreast on Earle Road from the railroad tracks almost to Summit Point Road. They rode in such a fashion as to make it impossible to pass them and when I finally did, I was treated with a single finger salute - even though I had done nothing to deserve that. There is one guy out here who I see often on Summit Point Road. When encountered, he makes no effort to move over - even when there is space for him to do so (like the wide area at Locust Hill).
I am all for sharing the road, but these folks don't believe in sharing. They feel that since it is legal for them to ride, they ride everywhere even where and when it may not be safe to do so.

Please explain how hoping someone drives off the mountain killing all inside is different from a death sentence? Dead is dead isn't it? Or are things so different in Lib-land that normal people are just too dumb to understand?

That very same thing happened to me on Summit Point Rd a couple years ago. I hadn't honked, tailgated or anything. Simply followed at a respectable distance until I could safely pass them. I don't understand the rudeness. We had some out here today doing the 2-3 abreast thing on rain-slick roads. It's very dangerous. I know when I ride on the road I'm all about self-preservation.

Or are things so different in Lib-land that normal people are just too dumb to understand? Well, one is the judicial branch of government trying someone for a crime, finding them guilty and sentencing them to death. The other is a stupid person who causes their own death by virtue of their own stupidity. That coupled with the fact they are an asshole, makes for the perfect karmic inspired end to an otherwise useless life.

If this same scenario could be applied to the asshats in Loudoun County who insist on riding their precious toys on the roads and impeding traffic instead of using the shoulder I would feel as though this was just, but these cyclists were not impeding traffic and were riding on the line or on the shoulder. The driver is clearly an asshole.

Don't you think that might just seem a bit too confrontational to the folks on the bike(s)? Not that I really care, since I can generally take care of myself... But, if you were a guy or two (or in some cases, three) and a big guy with a beard they'd just flipped off stopped, and got out his big black truck, don't you think that might raise the tension just a bit?

Nah, I sleep good. Back in those days, there were those of us who drove army trucks, and everyone else who was just in the way. Getting smoked was just one of the penalties for people not driving army trucks who were still on our roads for some silly reason.
Sadly, somehow I don't think that you'd understand. You'd had to have been there and had some skin in the game and it's kinda obvious that you weren't.

I've often thought the same thing about people who come onto an internet forum and start being rude to people with their first few posts like you did, first to Miss Boogers, then to Big Tom, then to me, and on to others. I don't recall you ever introducing yourself nor do I recall seeing you at any of the litter pick-ups or other positive activities. Big Tom on the other hand, yes I have been rude to him and he's been rude to me, I don't mind though. In terms of you, I feel rudness begets rudness, the first post I addressed to you was in response to the way you speak to people that disagree with you. In response to who I am, I'm me, just like you are you.

And I was never rude to you. I hadn't even addressed or responded to you. You just walked in among us--people who have been interacting together for quite some time--and acted as if you knew what the relationships here were all about and that you had some right to just join in and start acting rudely without so much as an introductory post or any positive interaction with anyone here first. Frankly, your manners are appalling and I have to wonder how you came to be so presumptuous. Do you make it a habit of walking up to groups of strangers who are talking amongst themselves and just butting in the way that you started off doing here?

You have been rude to people that I personaly know on this site, so there wasn't much presumption on my part. I find it odd that a person who is so quick to disparage others has such delicate sensibilities.
And I find it odd that some newbie signs up here and with his first posts, attacks Miss Boogers then Big Tom, two people who have done a lot of good for many people on here. I won't blow my own horn as to my contributions to the community, but they're still a lot more substantial than anything that you've done. So without you bothering to say "Hello, everybody, here's who I am..." and even trying to make a good impression, you start insulting the people who have been working to improve this community real-time instead of just some website. Of course you'll say that you didn't know, and that's precisely my point. You popped in here, formed some hasty judgements based on about thirty seconds of post reading, and decided that you knew enough about us all to start dipping into our personal interactions with each other and/or talking down to us like you're some sort of an expert that we sought out for advice. Sorry, but that's not the sort of thing that Dale Carnegie would ever suggest if you're actually trying to win friends and influence people.
When you actually put your own time and efforts on the table real-time for your neighbors like Miss Boogers has, and like Big Tom has, and even like I have, then maybe you can come in here with some credibility and start telling us all who you've decided to like and who you've decided to hate. But until then, you should probably just sit back and watch and learn until you've got some understanding about who is who here and what the real relationships are about.
And if I've ever been rude to people that you "personally know", well I would assume that this is their issue to address with me, not yours. Or did you seriously feel that you were graced with social moderator powers from your first visit tho this site?
You stepped on your Johnson, kid. And since you can't un-ring the bell, your only real alternative is to just step back and learn from your mistake and then try to come in again in a less-confrontational, less-arrogant manner.

I was never rude to Miss Booger, read the thread I was responding to Tony and his kill them on site theory with my first post. Big Tom addressed me and told me to "get my head out of the books" and live in the real world, I responded accordingly. I don't need permission from you to post on this site, I also wont take advice on manners from someone who on this site shows none. I will continue to post my opinion on topics. In regard to my "social moderator" status, I try to stick up for people who are being bullied, that's just me. I don't care if you like me Nanuk, but don't think you can try to intimidate me into a mea culpa because you don't like what I post. My opinions differ from your's, I sorry you can't handle that. I suggest you come to terms with it because I'm not leaving.

Oh I never expected that your ego would allow you to leave. Just give the "I'm a hero here because I'm rude to people on-line that I arbitrarily decided not to like" chest-beating a rest. Your regrettable lack of social graces really doesn't rise to the level of anything praiseworthy.
Again, many of us have relationships on and off this site that go back years and you can't possibly know the dynamics of those seeing as how you just got here and started flaming people. So for you to assume that you do and quickly act upon your assumptions...well that honestly doesn't reflect well upon your maturity or judgement.
Big Tom was probably right to tell you what he told you. I'm certain without a doubt that he has more real-life experience in all things nature-related than you do. Now me, when an acknowledged expert tells me something about his area of expertise, I try to listen and not reflexively sass back. But that comes from my own life experience and maturity so I don't hold it against you as I believe that you lack these things simply due to your youth. I don't even dislike you--I don't care enough about you at this point to bother. But I am trying to help you out here, so why not take some free advice and quit trying to assert yourself so boldly among people that have been interacting with each other for years and don't even know you.

These kind of rude confrontation cycilists ride Kable Town Rd. Where I live all the time. I also hang back and wait for a safe place to pass and yet I'm often still met with idiots swerving into my lane to try and stop me and the finger and several profane insults. It doesn't matter how safe or polite you try to be some cyclist just have an attitude and need to say something. So I try to acommodate by pulling over so they can catch up and share their oppinion with me. Ussually I wait patiently in my truck to talk to them but they just frantically peddle by as fast as they can with their heads down without making eye contact. I guess they thought about it and realized just how polite I really was. This is even more apparent when I have to pass them again and they keep their fingers in check and their comments to themselves. I've only had one Super Hero stop, through his bike down, and charge aggressivelly at me while seated in my wife's KIA. But when I got out to talk to him he abruptly stopped called me a pussy and ran for his bike and peddled off. When I passed him, big suprise, no smart ass comment.
Sometimes opening a car/truck door at the right time, just to make sure your safety belt is not caught in the door jam... makes a lot of sense. Think Zombieland :-)

I did not mock you! What I did was disagree with the oppinion you posted because as I stated it was HORSECRAP and it sounded like you did take it directlly from the pages of a book. Had you introduced yourself and shared some info on your background maybe I would have phrased it differently (ah hell who am I kidding it was HORSECRAP). We still don't know much about you other than you don't think animals shouldn't be killed to eat but humans should be and you'd rather live in a ficticious universe handing out your form of justice with a light saber. As far as my being rude to you I'm guilty, but I let you set the tone of our relationship. You cast the first insult and the first sarcastic comment I've just responded in kind, and I've still done it politely.
You came here with some preconceived ideas because of what your friends told you and never bothered to approach this forum with an open mind. This is a local social forum. You don't need to get real freindly if that's not what you really feel, but remember being respectful of others gains respect. Treat other as you'd like to be treated (most of the time). Sometimes we get nimrods on here that just need to be treated like crap, they breed it, they need it, it's what they deserve.
