... you know, colorful silhouette of a hip dude freak dancin' and wearin' an ipod with earplugs. I thought about today's youth and just shook my head ruefully. These kids don't analyze or research anything these days. If you want to sell something - add a groovy dance step. Anyway, back in my day we took comfort and joy in buying our music players. In my case, a Pioneer SX-680 Receiver/ Amplifier, 30 watts RMS, .9 THD (total harmonic distortion), a Yamaha YP-80 belt drive turntable that had excellent wow and flutter, and some kickass Cerwin-Vega 12-inch woofers with an efficiency of something like .79 at one meter. Of course at night I use my spec-matched Pioneer SE-4 headphones. Yep, half the fun was getting there! And then at parties ... the was getting to see the individual components and exploring a person's record collection. It's just different these days!

"kickass Cerwin-Vega 12-inch woofers with an efficiency of something like .79 at one meter."

Thats not too efficient....... But I understand and totally respect what you're saying in your post. I still take pride in picking out the very best Audio and Video components based on my current needs and budgets. My current amplifier is 62.5 watts per channel and stable to 1/4 ohm at .05 THD. The set of Audio Control EQTs (30 bands per octave) equalizer that accompanies it has .0005 THD at +/- 10db. The Boston Acoustics components hre rated at .89 at one meter and the subwoofers at 92. But we're from a different time Lep when it was more about sound quality then keeping up with the kid down the street. BTW- Did anyone else see the new iPOD toilet paper roll docking station for the bathroom?
