View Full Version : New restaurant is GREAT - KOI Thai and Japanese
This new place as opened up Right next to the BEN FANK and the Italian Place (Also not bad). It is called KOI Japanese & Thai.
THE FOOD WAS GREAT! 4 of us went and we had all food accross the menu. I can say it is some of the nest food I have had in the area EVER. the tab for 4, including 3 apps / 4 Ent / 2 Dessets was $130 with tip. Not cheap, but for the food we had, not bad at all.
I URGE you to please give this place a try, ONE because I like it, and I want it to stay, TWO, You all look like you could use more Thai food :)
Please go and give it a shot

We were up there tonight to see the cars. We walked by and decided we were going to try it out next weekend. Glad to hear the food is good.

My husband and a friend went for sushi yesterday and they too said it was great!
They said the sushi was great!!
It is also nice to know it was not a one time event. I do mean it, I urge people to go and check it out, I am glad we are getting some more foodstuffs in the area, and I want GOOD food to be enjoyed.
I also want them to flurish...

Been there twice now. Food is delicious (at least what we had). Nice clean atmosphere, where you can carry on a conversation with others at the table. Good service too. So far so good, and so close. Thanks for the tip. They are closed on Mondays, and they will also be closed July 4. [pooky]

Bryan and I had a night without our daughter and decided to try the restaurant out. The service and food was great. I'm assuming it was the owner of the place that came over to speak with us after our meal and we complimented him on everything and let him know that the Shannondale website was giving good reviews and he thanked us all. We usually go to one of the Kobe restaurants because we like the "show" they put on at the Hibachi tables, but are happy to have a new place in CT that is different from pizza, subs and Chinese. We will be going back again sometime.

What dishes would you suggest for a sushi novice or someone hesitant to try it out?
jjfbaltzell, I am glad you ask..
I am not a huge fish lover, but I live sushi... My brother in law hates fish more than I, and he would come with my sister and me to dinner, and the first time he had a chicken dish, and tried something on her plate, the second time the same, and now he can eat us under the table in shushi.
The best thing to start with are rolls, I LOVE softshell crab rolls, called spider rolls at many places, spicy tuna!...
Go and give it a try, read what's in the roll and start from there. Once you get a feel for the overall flavors, move to something not rolled, I LOVE eel, it is cooked, sweet and yummy.
If you want to try it out, and not have to break the bank (And you can!) I would recommend you go to Asia Gardens behind the Outback in Martinsburg on Sunday, they have a small buffet that has about 10 types of shushi on it, it is okay, not the greatest, but for starters it is okay. And if you do not like it at all, well there are other things to eat, and you are not out $50 for one person... They have the softshell crab as well!
Once you get a feel for what ya like, move up to the real good stuff. I have in the past dropped about $130 for one person on top rate sushi, not that you will find that here, I am just warning you, it is like crack.

When I was a teenager working in an Italian fish market, we had sushi fairly often (and squid and octopus and eel and caviar and all manner of creepy crawly stuff), but it was a long time ago, and working there for so many years burned me out on seafood for a really long time. My husband has zero interest in sushi, so I thought I'd feel out how I could get him in the door with me :P If they serve saki, that might just be do trick ;)

It is in the shopping center (Somerset Village) in Charles Town where the Food Lion is located.
