As part of the continuing effort of the Mountain Watch Program, special child ID kits will be available at the picnic on July 22. The kits include an inkless fingerprint card, DNA collection envelope, laminated wallet card, and a card to record/list the child's description and photo. There will also be a representative of LE at the picnic to do regular fingerprints on the card if desired. These will ba made available to members of the Mountain Community. There are 25 of these special kits available. Any additional kits will have to be purchased and prepaid.
We have no budget or funding. The cost of these initial kits is being donated.

800,000 thousand children go missing every year - one child every 40 seconds. Yet, when the National Child Identification Program began; less than two percent of parents had a copy of their child's fingerprints to use in case of an emergency.
The entire fingerprinting process lasts approximately five minutes. [u]If ever needed, the completed identification card can immediately give authorities the vital information they need to assist them in their efforts to locate a missing child.</u>
The National Child Identification Program is more effective than traditional identification programs because it offers:
[u]Comprehensive, descriptive information in one place: </u>
Children's appearances change rapidly, and simple alterations in clothes or hair make identification difficult. The ID Kit includes a section for a current photograph, as well as space for recording descriptions and measurements.
[u]Decentralized fingerprinting: </u>
There are not enough police officers or labor available to centrally fingerprint America's children using traditional methods. It would take more than 10 million hours or 4,800 working years, to centrally fingerprint the nation's 60 million children.
Thank you to Barb who has donated these kits for the benefit of your children and their safety.[cheer3]
