I can't get through to the link. Can anyone esle post?

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week this consultant gave presentations to commissioners, historic zoning committee, and even folks from Charles Town Rots & Sots! (Uhmm?) about the zoning re-write. I'm trying to find some feedback ... Willis? John? Commissioners?

(Thanks in advance!)

Hey Lep,

I was not able to attend any of these, but Frances went to the two earlier meetings and another friend attended the last. It was interesting that the "public" input they were looking for was not very public and not very publicized. I can't verify this, but it was reported to me that Mr. Kendig said that once they have finished the rewrite they will need to hold some hearings in order to "appease" the public.

There is some information about the Kendig report on the Listener yahoo group. If you've had a chance to read the post by Jane Tabb regarding her attempt to have Planning Commission member Paul Burke investigated by the Prosecutor's Office and her "concerns" about his making

quote:inappropriate public comments on the Internet about planning matters.

here is a link to the inappropriate comments.

Note particularly Mr. Burke's inappropriate public comment regarding Shannondale and water and sewer which I've quoted below:

quote:The report is enamored of piped water & sewer, despite their high cost & habit
of leaking raw sewage underground from miles of cracking collection pipes. They
say these "should be publicly provided" for most houses, so homeowners would pay
even in existing areas like Shannondale and Summit Point (pp. 19-21).

I am not real sure what part of this is inappropriate, or if perhaps it is the fact that it was posted for the public to read that is causing the problem. I think most people in the county would agree that we need MORE public discourse about planning and not less.

Well said John. Inappropriate and exposing have 2 different meanings, unless you're the NY Times ;)

Additionally, if you have some time this weekend, we need to go kayaking.
