A bit of rough going at the Springs today, but the area got completely mowed.

When I first got to the river this pic shows that the jeep trail was the only way back today.

The grass was much longer and thicker than last mowing, no doubt due to all the rain we have had since June so the area could use some raking but here is where it stands now.

Anyone interested in helping complete the cleanup of the Springs on the 21st would be greatly appreciated. Now it is just a matter of raking and disposing of clippings in the woods.

Sorry to hear the river trail was under water today; I was wondering if the site was accessible.

I actually liked going over the ridge, also that gate is much easier to use. The only problem was my truck's paint [B)] but I think it will all buff out.

Heh. Of course, I meant accessible by foot (the only legal way). Until the DNR mows a few trails, or Winter begins to descend, it's pretty much impossible.

I know I've limited my hikes to Takahano in the late summer. Have you had a lot of success getting back to the horseshoe on foot lately?

It could surely use a pass by the DNR on the trails with their mower. I had not been back there for a couple of months either, but it is really thick now.

Yes, as I discovered today. I'm not as ...determined as KA, so I gave up probably somewhere around the top of the last hill and turned back. The thick grass wasn't impassable, but 5 times the work to walk through it and it hides all the ruts, making it very painful on the ankles.
