Some early flowers, some early bugs. I bet the view from the loft is great, but those stairs look a bit rickety. Anybody's guess what the metal thing used to be.

#1 Bloodroot? The root of this wildflower was used by the Native Americans to cure the dyspepsia brought on from drinking the Magic Water of the Springs

#2 Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings are reported to have had a tryst in the loft of the old barn at the Springs and there is where he REALLY said that the view was worth a trip across the Atlantic

#3 Box Elder Bugs were Named for the elder statesmen who frequented the resort and often orated from while standing on soapboxes which held the Mystical Mistress of Soap's curative creations

#4 The Grand Staircase at the Springs rivaled that of the Greenbrier before falling into disrepair

#5 Alexander Calder often perfected his mobiles and stabiles at the Springs in the early 1900's

The metal thing looks like one of those rickety galvanized metal gates... although I always preferred the metal tubular kind.

Good point. It's certainly near the road. The holey thing on the ground may have nothing to do with it.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with it, as the holey thing looks to be one of those plastic flats/crates that places like 7 Eleven get their milk delivered on.
