We saw them putting that new sign up a few days ago. It's about time they changed it. It used to say "family bowing". Yea right, you can't bowl unless you join a league.
My sisinlaw went off on them one night our entire family went their to bowl and they said "sorry, need to be on a league or you can't bowl because all lanes are always full". She threw a cussing fit and told them to change their damned sign then!!!!

When I was younger, we always went to Pikside in Martinsburg for bowling. We always had a blast when they would do the lazer bowling. Sometimes we would just go to Shepherd University and use their bowling lanes.
The lanes where I grew up did the Leagues thing all the time too. Clearly it's a good business decision to cater to Leagues. But since leagues are so well scheduled, what's needed is adequate information easily obtained about when you can expect lanes to be reserved.
We've bowled here in town a couple times on a Saturday or Sunday (I think) afternoon when half the place was empty.

It's great to go to the bowling alley now that it is totally non-smoking. We've had birthday parties there and it was so nice to be able to breath in there and not come out smelling like you'd been smoking when you never had in your life.

We went to my hubby's grandson's bday party at Pikeside a few weeks ago. That place has become disgustingly filthy. The toilet was more than disgusting and it was like being in an icebox. I really don't think they even have heat in their toilets.
Same deal, couldn't bowl because of the leagues!
You just need to check the schedule before just randomly making plans. lf not for the leagues they probably couldn't exist on walkin people. They have really spruced the place up. We should be thankful as a community.

Yep - we enjoy going to the CT bowling alley now. Plus with it being all automated scoring is such a big help to me too! lol
You just need to check the scheduleRight. But how? Do they have a website and keep it updated? Will the guy answering the phone know? Do the leagues have calendars online?
They do have a website but I don't know if they keep it updated. Or you could just call.
