Here's why you don't want gypsy moths in your back yard!

1) The trees in your yard will be totally stripped of their leaves and the beautiful green summer forest that normally surrounds you will look like the dead of winter.
2) The value of your property will be seriously impacted if these caterpillars hit two years in a row, because many, if not all of your trees will die.
3) If your trees die, you can expect some serious erosion problems (as if we don't already have this)and the mountain could turn into
one big mudslide.
4) If your trees die, you will pay a fortune in tree removal.
5) If there are dead trees all over the mountain, the risk of fire greatly increases and all it would take is one tossed cigarette to ignite this dead wood.
6) Forget about working in your yard during a gypsy moth infestation. You will slip and slide on their slimy green defecation that covers just about everything. You, as well as your trees, house, cars, etc. will be covered with these nasty caterpipllars because there are so many of them. And when they go into their pupae stage, you might as well plan to power wash everything in sight because they leave behind thousands of their ugly brown shells that seem to stick like glue.
7) Don't plan to do any summer entertaining outside during a gypsy moth attack since the food on your grill will be covered with defecation and larvae, and the caterpillars will leave you no room to sit at your picnic table. click here to see what I mean (http://www.insectimages.org/browse/detail.cfm?imgnum=0796082)
