Since one of my dogs died a while ago I have been missing her. So, being the moron that I am, I stopped at the shelter Saturday and saw a dog I can't live without, even though I already have three others. This time it's a small horse. He is a huge shepherd/something mix and is pure white. He looks a lot like a wolf. There was a number on his collar, so I called it. It seems that he showed up at this retired couple's door in the spring, all friendly and sweet. They tried to keep him, but he was too big for their small house and miniscule yard, so they had to give him up. They said he is great with other dogs, cats and kids. And they're right. He is the coolest dog. I've named him Cherokee.
He is really nice looking. Another white dog for dog club!

He's a handsome devil, Angel! Another big strapping feller for Teri to tart herself up for. Barkly, the dog that was supposed to be a brawler but turned out to be a big moosh and have fun at Fight Club, looks happy to have another pal.
Black Dog, when you open your coffee place, we'll have to have stuff named after all the Fight Club pooches!
Congrats Angel!

Well, she can tart herself up all she wants to, but I'm afraid it will be a wasted effort. If you know what I mean. Those days are over for him, if he ever even:) had any.

Well, keep in mind that I used that name because it's the name of my white german shepherd. My family will tell you it certainly doesn't describe me.:devil-smiley-033:

I was referencing that recent commercial for pet adoption with SM to the tune of her hit song. They show the sweetest and most cutesh pooches - dog faces that say I want to be owned by someone! I cry every time it comes on the telly!!!

Isn't it funny how when you lose one dog, you seem to need to get a number of others to fill its place? I lost my old girl in October and have gotten another guy, and went to visit another dog this past weekend. Although, I don't know how I'd walk 3, so right now I'm just thinking about her...

Our dog is named Cherokee too. How did you arrive at that name? Our inspiration is special memories of camping at Cherokee, NC, and it just seems to fit our dog (who is a 45-lb. Heinz 57 from the adoption agency).

WAY TO GO! Our three litle white guys moved into our lives/home and completely took over ever since. Lots of luck with Cherokee!

I tried to think of a pretty Native American name because he looks very wolfish, and he reminded me of that wolf in the movie "Dances with Wolves".

Well, that "freakin cool" mutt is too smart for his own good! Last evening I was driving home from work and I got a call from a neighbor who said Cherokee had gotten out of my fence and ran up to her while she was tending her horses. Scared the crap out of her because she had never seen him before, and he does look wolfy. She asked him to take her back to his house, and he actually did lead her to my front door. I am impressed that he's already bonded with me and his new home to do that. And that he didn't run away. When I got home I put him back behind the fence to see how he got out. I called him and he was out in a flash. He had figured out how to jump on top of a nearby doghouse and easily sail over the fence in one graceful ballet leap. My other dogs were too stupid to figure that out, evidently. So I had to move the doghouse to the middle of the yard to keep him from trying that again. I hate when I have a creature that is smarter than I am.
