I happened to see Dale Manuel today. He is rolling up his sleeves to end the preparing and begin seriously working as one of the new county commissioners.
He mentioned that he is thinking that he wants to schedule a meeting in the Shannondale area in January. This would be to re-introduce Locke as the new state representative, as well as bring as many of the other county commissioners who are available and willing, out to us.
When he?s done this before, he usually has other people with him depending on known issues, such as county sheriff and a state trooper rep or DNR officials when we had some specific issue to be discussed. The politicians usually start with a list of things that they are working on (info dump to us and also asking for a show of hands on some options) that is pretty interactive, as well as having a more general, ?Questions from the Audience? session, at the end.
Given the timing, it might be an excellent time to request that the County Commissioners issue a formal letter to the Sec of the WV Dept of Highways for more money for road maintenance (fix pot holes, more paving, bigger culverts so the rain runoff does not do as much damage, cut back brush and mow for 3 feet from edge of road to improve line of sights, particularly on school bus routes, and things like snow removal, etc.)
In the past, these have been held in Weber?s store, which is on Mission Road, about a quarter of a mile past the stop signs at Upper Clubhouse Drive / Gate 3. They are usually held late morning or early afternoon on a Saturday or Sunday.
So, now is a good time to start thinking up questions and even calling or sending them in advance. Dale?s listed in the phone book (725-8160 Home), and regularly checks his email ([email protected]). You can also call or email Leslie Smith who is the primary coordinator for the county commissioners. Normal meetings are held every Thursday.
