If you would like to view the draft of the updated Jefferson County Zoning documents (map & ordinance), click on the following link: Kendig-Keast Collaborative Documents (http://www.jeffersoncountywv.org/Kendig%20Keast.html)
I don't have to tell this group that this rewrite will greatly affect the quality of life in Jefferson County for the next several decades. For instance, I find it interesting that section 4.304, which outlines the capacity calculations for a Neighborhood Conservation (Mountain) - which is what virtually *all* of Shannondale falls into - has had only minimal changes from what was presented at the meeting at the MCC a few months ago.
Six "public comment" meetings have been scheduled to provide an overview to the Ordinance and for the County Commission to receive public comments and questions. The following is the schedule published by the County Commission:
Shepherdstown District: Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 7pm at the War Memorial Building, Shepherdstown Men's Club, upstairs meeting room, 102 East German Street;
Kabletown District: Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 7pm at South Jefferson Elementary School in the Cafeteria, 4599 Summit Point Road;
Harpers Ferry District: Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 7pm at C.W. Shipley Elementary School in the Gymnasium, 652 Shipley School Road;
Middleway District: Monday, December 10, 2007 at 7pm at Country Day School in the Library, 449 RedactedName0002 Hill Drive;
Charles Town District: Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 7pm at Blue Ridge Elementary School in the Cafeteria, 18866 Charles Town Road; and
Charles Town District: Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 10am at the County Meeting Room, Charles Town Library, 200 East Washington Street, side entrance.
It is my understanding that comments may also be submitted to the County Commission in writing at any time through December 17, 2007. Additional information may be obtained by calling the Planning and Zoning Departments at (304) 728-3228.
