This weekend we have 2 walking times - Saturday the 26th @ 9am in KatherineA's neighborhood (John Brown Farm) AND Sunday the 27th @ 10am in Shannondale with me.

Come to one OR both!!

If you need directions for the meeting location for either walk, please PM the hostess. :)

If you walked a little every day then those big walks wouldn't tear ya up so much. Just down your road and back would build you up for the big walks on the weekends.

June
01-27-2008, 05:41 PM
Agree, WVD. That what GJ and I were talking about on the way home. We're going to be partners during the week and kick each other in the butt to walk together in the morning!

*truthfully, it'll probably have to be her kicking me in the butt :D

Proud of you ladies!!!!!!!!!

WVGeo

Which way are you guys going to be heading - when I work my regular schedule I'm working from home on Mondays and Fridays and I'd just have to get my lazy butt out of bed a little bit earlier.

I was thinking either starting here next Saturday, then up Wren to Windsong, and doing the up and down with that, swinging back past PezCollectors to get back to my house, or I could run the suv over to the lake and get an accurate measure of that loop if folks want to do that one.

Anybody interested?

Wormdoc

I'm interested in Saturday if it's not too late....eariler the better but 10 at the latest. Anywhere's fine with me.

WVGeo

PezCollector
01-28-2008, 09:21 AM
Hey Ladies - The loop around the lake is 2 miles :D

GJ & June - where are you meeting to walk in the mornings? I usually go to they gym in the morning but could join you 1-2 days a week!

I will host next Sunday 2/3 @ 10am. I have a different loop to do that is 2.5 miles. PM me if you need directions to mi casa.

Anybody to host on Saturday??

WVGeo
01-28-2008, 09:24 AM
I don't want to overlap PezCollector's route Saturday, so for some variety, anybody interested in meeting at the lake on Sat.?

LeoTheLion
01-28-2008, 09:49 AM
The lake walk is 3.3 miles per our pedometer, so don't shortchange yourselves! You guys will rock if you do that every day! I think GranmaK said it was 3.4 when measuring it in her car.

WVGeo
01-28-2008, 09:53 AM
Or we could just go straight up Wren's View... Does crawling on hands and knees count?

June
01-28-2008, 09:57 AM
 Geo! Tina and I are working towards that! Hopefully by spring we'll be able to make to Thrush!

:o Sorry about Saturday k.

I will host this coming Saturday at 10:00, at my house: 131 Wrens View Lane (pm me for directions). We'll do a one mile loop with a couple of good hills, then the folks that want a longer walk can do it twice. I'm just not up to it yet, but hopefully soon!

WVGeo

OK, Saturday at 10. The Windsong-Ceasare-Rolling loop?

June
01-28-2008, 11:56 AM
Well Geo, I decided to be more adventurous and have a nice view on the walk so I took Girly on a drive up Wrens View, left on Thrush (big hill with beautiful view!), down the hill and onto Cub Run, up the hill onto Rolling and back home on Wrens View again. Of course if some want a longer walk they could stay on Rolling and do the Rolling/Windsong loop from there and back to Wrens that way!

WVGeo
01-28-2008, 12:05 PM
Ooo, Thrush is nice. Haven't been over there for a while.

my hips hurt. :( I'm going to whine all day. Just be glad ya'll don't have to listen!

I am not sure about next weekend for me...but definately the weekend after.

I am still crossing my fingers that my office gym opens back up this week. It has been closed since Christmas for a remodel.

WVGeo
01-28-2008, 01:49 PM
You do realize that large amounts of walking mean that we will have to keep our feet in good shape, so that means regular pedicures... and that means that you ladies that have Significant Others/Hubbies get to pester them until they pay for them as necessities :D

We'll celebrate Ground Hog Day with a walk Saturday morning. Looks like the weather will be cooperative so far. They're calling for sunny and highs in the 40's.

So as stated previously I'll host the walk starting at my place on Saturday which is at 131 Wrens View Lane at 10:00. Sorry, I'm not at the lake, Cindylu, but I do have a scenic walk planned with some hills as I posted above.

What the heck, here are the directions for whoever needs them, from Mission and Gate One:
From Gate One Turn Left on Red Bird
Right on Wild Rose
Left on Mad Hatter
Left on Jonnycake
Right on Cub Run
Right on Rolling Lane
Left on Wrens View
We're the 2nd house on the left, #131.

Had a good walk! Did two laps around the block. We missed you guys :). There were a few slick spots, mostly in my driveway! The ice on the trees with the sunlight made for a beautiful scene.

Thanks Geo for sharing in the walk with Capone :D. You're great company!

I messed everything up, I started cleaning out toy boxes and the rest was history. I also forgot to call my friend who was intending to go again, then they called me to see if we were on, which we weren't. I think she was shy to come by herself. Next week I should be good to go though. I might have another new person next week.

Saturday afternoon was one of those it-takes-longer-than-I-expect-to-do-everything days, so I didn't make it to church until Sunday morning. Ended up looping the lake Sunday afternoon, but it was a last minute decision so I didn't have company:(

Will try to make it next week.

I couldn't get my act together Sat. morning. Bruce and I took a walk Sun. afternoon. From the parking lot of the Springs (not the one by the river the other one where the giant white endloader is parked) and walked to the river on a trail. It was hilly, took about an hour and was "breathtaking" on the way back as it was all up hill. :)

I highly recommend this route - seriously - it was a good workout.

Anybody want to loop the lake with me at 10 on Saturday morning?

KatherineA
02-07-2008, 09:04 AM
Just so everyone is clear - this is not the Springs parking lot by the river, this is the springs parking lot located "up" from there off Mission Road after you go past the storage sheds and before you get to the 4-way stop.

WVGeo
02-07-2008, 09:24 AM
Maybe I should make sure I'm clear - I'm actually not that familiar with anything beyond the Gate 1 mailboxes.

To me the way involves two parking lots - a good one, where I leave my car, and then a walk down a much rougher road along the river to a second parking lot, then a gate and a walk to the Springs. Is the first lot the place you are talking about?

From Gate 1 go south (left) on Mission Road. After you pass Gate 2 - Clubhouse? I believe, you will pass Grammy's Place, there will be a road on your right after Grammy's that says something about the Springs and is the road to the river parking lot. DO NOT GO DOWN THS ROAD!

Stay on Mission Road for little way farther start to go up a hill and you will see a driveway and gravel parking area on your right. THIS IS THE MEETING PLACE.

This is a more rigorous walk than the one along the river. Up over the hill and down to the river as opposed to along the river bank.

Yeah, I wondered if you were warm wearing jeans but I also thought they were lined. You are a brave soul!!

My sweats were very warm but I think I'm going to purchase hiking boots. My running shoes were ok but with all the hidden 'pot holes' I may need the support of hiking boots. Need to replace my old boots anyway.

Yeah, if it's that breezy again I'll put my thermies under some sweat pants.

I wear hiking boots most of the time even walking on streets because the thick soles protect my feet - artheritis in the big toe joints makes them sensitive to pounding.
