From Rio Bravo. Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson sing while Walter Brennan plays harmonica and John Wayne enjoys.

I'm sorry, but that's so gay.

:)

You have no idea. There is more machismo and testosterone on that video alone than on the combined casts of every movie put out by Hollywood in the last seven years.

Who compares today? Surely not that girly-man George Clooney, or effeminate "actors" like Matt Damon. Hell, Richard Simmons is more of a man than 98% of the male membership of the Screen Actors Guild today.

That's what's wrong with America these days...No more manly role models on the silver screen or TV for today's kids to look up to. Nope. All they have now is sissies like that Ben Affleck guy. Very sad.

Whatever. Jason Bourne is hot, and could kick your butt.

Jason Bourne as written by Robert Ludlum perhaps.

But queerly portrayed by Damon... NOT!

That role should have gone to a younger Harrison Ford or Sean Connery back in the day. wasting it on Damon was as dumb as giving the first Jack Ryan role to that Baldwin hack in Hunt for Red October.

A hot Baldwin with an awesome name. A manly name. Manly man.

There has never been a manly Baldwin. Not unless you count Adam Baldwin, from the great sci-fi show Firefly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefly_%28TV_series%29). And he's not related to the twit brothers of the same last name.

We may have to call City for a ruling, but even if Ricky Nelson did somehow become gay in his later years, he most certainly was not when he was starting with Dean Martin, John Wayne and Claude Akins in Rio Bravo. There was just too much manly aura on the set. But even if he had been the least bit metro before then, the mere presence of the young, unspoiled Angie Dickenson in that movie would have cured him. She was smoking!

BTW, what are we supposed to see in that video that doesn't play?

Jeez, JT, thanks for sending me back into my puberty years...That's really not fair when it's past midnight.

And how can a bunch of guys with poofy (and perfectly coiffed, in Ricky's case) hair sitting around singing to one another *not* be gay? And did you get a load of Ricky's mouth? It was mighty pretty's all I'm sayin.

OK, the video worked this time, and I agree that it was effeminate to the point where I was expecting Richard Simmons and RuPaul to be dancing across the screen. But that was also done in the late 70's or early 80's wasn't it? Different time. Liberalism had corrupted America by then, resulting in videos like that. But back in 1959, when Rio Bravo was filmed, America was a better place. Young Ricky Nelson had a proper haircut and as a teen idol of the times, he set a good example for America's youth by demonstrating support for what was right, respect for lawful authority, and good posture. I'd even go so far as to wager that he flossed his teeth regularly. He was that kind of clean-cut American kid.

Obviously something bad happened to him later in life. I don't know what it was but I'm sure that the Liberals had something to do with it.

No, smartypants. That was the Late 80's, early 90's. Bush administration, if I am not mistaken. But I am sure all the decades are starting to run together for your old butt. :p

OK, excuse me but I wasn't aware that he had sons, much less burn-out, pot-head-looking sons. Let's get back to the 50's, when every kid was Beaver Cleaver and life was ideal in America.

Nanners, have you seen the movie Pleasantville? Your comment reminds me so much of that. I love that movie...it's pretty neat. I've got the DVD if you'd like to borrow it. I didn't think I'd like it...not my type, really, but I really loved it.

It's so cute the way you wish we were all still in the 50s, Nanuk!

And shocker of shockers, I've gotta agree w/you on the Baldwins. Jayne Cobb was awesomely unapologetic as a d--- and I loved that about him.

When diplomacy fails, you want someone like that around. He was the guy, that's for sure. I suspected that you had good taste. Now I know. ;)

My 2 favorite topics old movies and men.
To keep on topic Ricky Nelson never did it for me with his acting, looks or singing. RN obviously hit a cord with some, he was very popular but an Elvis want-a-be to me.

Now Robert Mitchum filled the screen. It doesn't matter if he was old or young I am totally captivated. He did a tv movie in 1985, Reunion at Fairborough the scenes at http://www.abmc.gov/cemeteries/cemeteries/ca.php were very touching.

I could go on but won't bore you with what I think of Cagney, Stewart Fonda.

He actually had a daughter too....Tracy Nelson (she was the nun on some detective TV series-can't remember the name).

Stephen's been on Celebrity Apprentice this season. He has a really funny sense of humor...had me LOL several times!

Back on the topic, the old western are still very cool. And I watch Leave it to Beaver on a regular basis...that show was old even when I was a kid :D.
