Does anyone know who may have deposited the orange bags along Mission near mt road? I'm hoping it was a legitimate pickup and someone didn't use the bags for their own personal use. Would anyone happen to know? If someone is using the bags for their own personal use this is going to cause us a problem with the highway dept.
I have no idea. What's 'mt road'?

I'm not sure of the road name. Heading south on Mission not too far from the Mission Tabernacle Church...the road on the right that leads to the group of houses that include the big cedar home overlooking the river.

I think that's called Mountainside Road.
Well, let's stop there tomorrow and have a look. It should be pretty obvious if it's street trash or personal trash.
I don't say this lightly, but the fact is if it's personal trash it'll just sit there for weeks until it gets torn open and spread around and we'll have to pick it up ourselves.

I saw that too. In front of the Bowlin sign on Mission. For a couple of weeks, there has been a pile of regular trash bags and other crap out there. Now there are numerous orange bags as well and it appeared as if someone was just using them for personal disposal.

If I do a spontaneous neighborhood mini-pickup using the orange bags...say, 2, can I still put them with my regular trash or will the trash guys leave them?

E.G.-When some go to Shannondale Springs to spruce up the historic area, often we end up with an orange bag of trash which I've put with the household stuff rather than leave it on the side of the Shannondale Springs or Mission Roads.
The same would seem to apply with the impromptu collections to which Wormie refers. I'd not worry if we see an occasional orange bag next to someone's cans of refuse.
In a related subject- BRILLO needs to schedule that series of neighborhood (trashy) meet and greets about which we've discussed.

For spontaneous pickups with just one or two orange bags I always use our regular trash pickup rather than calling the highway dept. So far it has not been a problem. I hope the orange bags at mountainside are a legitimate pickup -- if not I'll probably be hearing from the highway dept. The black bags have been there for some time and several are busted open with the trash laying around.
As far as the next meet and greet and pickup -- what about evening pickups or late Sunday afternoons?

Sunday afternoons sound good. Evenings are too rushed with work schedules and commuting and wah wah wah....

As it turns out the orange bags were used for personal use and not a legitimate pickup. Unfortunately the only way to find who did this is to attempt to rummage through the bags of trash - something that no one wants to do. I have a suspicion that someone outside of the volunteers may have taken some bags out of the boxes that were in the back of my truck the first day of the pickup while it was parked in the St Andrews parking lot. Oh well..there's nothing we can do about it now but hope that Waste Management picks up the bags and doesn't report it to the highway dept.
