I have a Culligan water conditioner in my basement. Lately I've noticed that water is constyantly passing through it and going out the drain pipe, and it's now starting to show up out in the yard, presumably at the septic system outlet. I turned the water off to this device and now I have no household water. I know nothing at all about these things but I need water so this has to get corrected ASAP. Any advice about what to do or who to call to come look at it?

The 'official' Culligan dealer in the area is out of Hagerstown, called Stoner Enterprises Inc, 301-797-0311, or 800-451-7512. Unfortunately they tend to schedule calls into the area only a couple days per week. They charge a trip fee ($74) plus labor ($30) and parts. What tends to happen on some of the older units (10-15 years) is that the seal packs sieze up, so you should probably expect a visit every couple years. Note that the units usually have a bypass plunger on them also.

Craig Blair over at Sunset Water always treated us right over at least ten years. I'm not sure if he will or can service a Culligan system but it won't hurt to give him a call.
