BRILLO Awards to BRE Students

Just a reminder to our BRILLO members that BRE will be presenting the awards to the art and essay winners on Friday June 6. GirlyJeep and Wormie plan to attend the presentation and anyone else is also welcome. We are waiting for BRE to announce the time of the presentations. The winners will be presented with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize money plus the framed awards.

I'll be there if the crick don't rise. What a way to instill some civic pride in our youngsters! The dough is great but a show of support would help, too.

I didn't mention all the great work that our BRILLO members have done between donating money for the awards, judging the entries, and getting the money orders and everything else needed to make this happen! Thanks again to Willis, Girlyjeep and hubby, Wormie, Theresa, John, Nancy and my own hubby Stan for helping. The only way to stop the littering in this area is through education. Hopefully the little things we do will make a difference!! It was really enjoyable reading the essays and viewing the artwork that was submitted.

Since its the last day of school, thats when the principal wanted us to award the contest winners.

I called and left a message, so as soon as I get a time I will post back here.

The first set of winners are in 1st and 2nd grade so the time for awards is 10:15 AM.

If it weren't for wanting to have pictures taken I would just drop off the money orders and awards and let the principal take care of it. I know this Friday is a crazy day there and trying to get a time for us to hand these out has been a bit hard.

The 5th grade winners are having a practice ceremony (they are graduating) which they are calling me back with the time. Will post as soon as I know.

I'm willing to go @ 10:15 but can someone else be there for the 5th graders?? Or I will just give it all to them and be done!!

Not to get off topic, but when's the next pickup going to be? I have some leftover orange bags from our last pickup that need filling!

The 5th grade graduation is at 7 pm on Thursday night.

I think it's important to both the entrants, winners and BRILLO to get photos for a news article. Is it just me or is the contest low on the priority list at BRE. We're trying to instill pride in the Mountain community and inho, it's an important part of education, particularly at the elementary student level.
So, two separate ceremonies? On two different days? Who's coordinating the ceremony/ies? How will the prizes be awarded? Who will be presenting them? I expect the entries have been on display at the school. We can at least get pix of them, including the winning efforts.
Let me know- I can prolly be available if needed as a warm bod, to present or to take some pix.

I can help you on Friday, GirlyJeep. I'm afraid I can't help with the graduation of the 5th graders though. Thursday evening is booked solid. I can go in uniform, if ya like.....bleah.

But, like Willis says, I don't think this is high on their list.

I think you guys are misunderstanding. It isn't that you aren't high on the list...it just that there is a LONG list to get through. (spelling, math, attendence, honor roll, Big B, character counts, etc.)

The 5th grade graduation is on a seperate day because that is special. They will get all of their "end of year" awards, along with their "graduation" certificate. They will also add in the BRILLO awards. It's just that they have so many awards to go thru...they can't possibly give an exact time. You would just have to go and sit through everything to see it.

With the younger kids...their assembly is slated to start at 9:15 am on Friday...they go through all of the grades, giving out the end of year awards. It isn't a fast process. But it is special to all of the kids. You would have to devote your entire Friday morning to this if you wanted to attend for the sake of the BRILLO awards.


ps...My baby Kindergartener graduated today!! :thumbsup: I can hardly believe it!

I was just frustrated about missing an opportunity to get some recognition for the kids and BRILLO at the same time- a TWOFER. The kids had fun making the posters and I'll just let them enjoy the end of school experience without complicating things.:o

The awards we need to hand out are to 1st and 2nd graders and they said to come @ 10:15 AM for them. They called back to say that 2:30 PM would be the time to award the 5th graders. They fit this in at a different time then the graduation ceremony.

I did'nt mean to sound like I'm complaining. I am just having a busy week and trying to get this scheduled too.

So who can go and at what time, who is the photographer??

I have all the entries in my possession and the winning awards and money orders.

Congrats to your girls too! My 4th grader (Sammie) is getting the Big B as well!! :) I won't be able to be there for the awards though, since I took off this morning for the 4th grade play and the Kindergarten graduation. I feel bad, but I gotta earn that gas money ya know.

My husband and I have to split the 5th stuff last night, he is going to the dinner, and I am taking K to a soccer pizza party then meet back up with C & Dad at 7 for the awards. It's a bummer we have to do this, there are so many things going on this and the past couple weeks. Pool party tomorrow, pool party Saturday, these kids party more than I do.
