There are many historic locations in Jefferson County and even a few that are magical in beauty, spirit or both. Jim Surkamp seems to have cornered the market in personally led tours of sites that are not on the beaten path. Today I joined Mr. Surkamp for the second time, after braving brisk weather last September.

My wife and I had our hearing at 2:00 p.m. today (Tuesday, February 24 2009) in front of four commissioners. We knew three of them (Dale Manual, Jim Surkamp and Francis Morgan) with Lyn Widmyer being the fourth, and were greeted in a warm manner by all. An assessor was also present. We were asked if we wanted the hearing to be available on the web cam and we said yes, so look for our mugs on the internet too (not sure of the URL).
