As of 1/1/09, I have collected approximately 35 names, numbers and locations for people wishing to be on a Mountain Emergency Contact List.

Due to the nature of our location, emergencies can happen quickly.

In regard to the people in subdivisions along Mission Road:
~We are limited to one way in and one way out.
~Until something is done in the way of opening another avenue for an escape route, or some kind of warning system, the S&B forums and a call list are pretty much all we have at this time.

Due to the mountain fire a couple of years ago in the Bussard's Rock area, I started a call list strictly for people in the areas of such emergencies.

After the 1/1/09 event in the Moonridge/Wren's View/Thrush/Wren's Lane area, I have updated the information as well as have added more contacts.

I urge others along the northern side of the mountain (KFA, KFC, BRA, Westridge Hills, etc...) to also form calling lists in the event of emergencies.

The information is strictly confidential.
You will only be contacted if there is a direct reason or threat in your area.

Luckily, I've only had to use it maybe 3 times w/ a total of 4 calls in the past 2 or 3 yrs.

If you would like to be added to this list, please PM or email (str1ker@frontiernet.net) the following information:
Name / Screen Name / Phone Number(s) / Location
I will add it to the spreadsheet.

Please don't forget, we also have the Watch Jefferson County website, where you may obtain information pertinent to your safety. You may also post incidents of concern.
Law Enforcement agencies peruse these items on a regular basis.

Thanks,

"Bring me your tired, hungry, battered, beaten, etc..."

I suppose Mom Nature's given us kittens, and now she's upped the ante a tad... He's not a turtle, but we are takin' care of his cute l'il bandit arse as best as we can...

This l'il guy has been comin' over after the kittens have had their dinner, he's actually quite polite, and not grubby or anything.

His face is similar to the Phantom of the Opera. The right side of his face has been damaged. His nose is 1/2 gone, and his right eye is gone too. It looks as if he's been clipped by a car.
We know he can't hunt very well, (if at all), and he's polite, so he is the newest addition to the "Wolf Den Natural Wildlife Refuge".

I don't mind feeding the kids knowing they're not able to fend for themselves, as well as knowing that everyone keeps their respective distances, including us. We don't go near them, we just observe.
There are no arguments, everyone seems to get along quite nicely. I suppose they just "know" they're all safe here.

Eventually, the kittens will grow up and leave the Den, and eventually, this l'il guy will too. It's just nice to document their time here. And yes, even the leopard slug lives in harmony w/ these guys, it's really neat.

The hummingbirds and other birds are still eating their food. In a way, it's interesting because we moved the kitten's food closer to the back porch. It gives them a bit more shelter. The bird feeder is about 3 feet from the kitten's food, and they just watch each other eat. It's almost like they take turns.

We talk to them thru the windows, and the kittens now run up to the car when we come home, which I never expected. They all are so happy, and yes, Momma is now gone. I've not gone searching for her, as I'm afraid of what I'd find. I just think that she felt comfy enough to bring them to us in May, and knew that they'd be safe here. I actually feel really honored that we've been blessed w/ the duty to watch over all of the kids.

Soon, it'll be time to get the salt and corn for the deer. I can't wait for that. They reside on the hill behind the house in the thicket, and come keep the back grass on the hill mowed for us. Dang I really dig living here.

Heh! Well as of 8:40am, I got my plane tix, and I am now goin' to be jet-setting across the country to Twisterville, USA! LOL

I'll be gone for a couple of days, but I have a feeling it's a couple days that could very well be life-changing.

Ya know when you just have a "Gut" feeling that somethin's just "waiting"?
That "waiting" is either something totally incredibly wonderful, or my certain death as I put my foot on the ground and get sucked up in a vortex HAHAHAH

Then again, I thought that when I landed at LAX and got outta the plane, the big one would hit, and I'd be swimmin' in the ocean, but that didn't happen.... So, maybe I'll be fine, who knows...

Fact is, in a couple weeks, I'm O.K.C. BOUND BABY!!!!! ROOOOOCCCCKKKKK!!!

So, last night, I was goin' over the bells and whistles of the new 3.7 upgrade to the forum... FREAKIN' SWEET!

I figured I'd chill out w/ some Chinese food and a couple movies right? After all, nothin' says "Summer Solstice" like some MSG and the Boob Tube...

I have ordered my Chinese, I'm decked out in my comfy sweats, tie-dye whitewater rafting T-shirt, just got off the phone w/ the other 1/2, (who's sick as all get out), and I'm about to walk out the door when my phone rings...

It's Stu - my band dude.
He says,
"Hey Honey, where are ya, are ya ok?"
I'm like,
"Hells yah man, I'm headin' out for Chinese and a couple DVD's what's up?"
he responds...
"Uhm, we thought you were stuck in traffic, since you're always 1st to the gig..."
I say,
"WHAT GIG???"
He says,
"You DO know we have a gig at Perry's in Odenton tonight, right?"
At this point, I'm in complete DENIAL of there being a gig. I completely freak, & tell him,
"HOLY SSSSSSS!!!! NO WAY!!!! OMGOMGOMGOMG!!!! I'M ON MY WAAAAAAY!!!!"
I hung up on him, got dressed, packed my gear, kissed the wolfie, and ran out the door & was on the road in 3 mins after explaining to Niko during this 3 mins, why Momma was acting like a raving lunatic...

Never in my ENTIRE. MUSICAL. CAREER. have I EVER missed or forgotten about a gig. Even checking the calendar a couple weeks prior, I saw NOTHING for Saturday the 21st. Since we don't normally gig on Friday's, I didn't pay attention to the 20th! - Go figure. TOTAL. TARD. MOVE.

Lucky for me, we had a bassist that my drummer knows from another project, that was and and willing to sit in for the 1st set while I was haulin' arse to get to the venue.

So, needless to say, I got there at 9:40, was ready to roll at 9:45. There were a lot of jokes last night, I felt like a complete idiot, (still do), but then again, S happens. Everything was kosh, and the gig went exceptionally well.

TODAY - I went to Wal-Cult, and purchased the large desk calendar which is now on my wall in front of the rig. It has all of the gigs listed in red, and I'm anxiously awaiting to put my OKC trip on there as well!

I was able to snaggle and snarl my Chinese food, and I nixed the idea of movies, cos I'm just not in the mood right now. I'm getting back to the bells and whistles, and hopefully will enjoy the rest of the weekend :)

Right now, it's 7:22pm Friday June 20th 2008, and it's Summer Solstice. I'm listening to my guy broadcast out in Oklahoma City at KABS. He's been playin' me 80's love songs.... How freakin' cool's that? LOL

Been busy at work as normal. My son's a senior now, (spooky), and just took his senior pics today. He brought Niko in to take them together. I can't wait to see the proofs!

Dr. let me go today at 3:30, which was cool. Getting off early on a Friday is always good times.

Right now, my sites are set on a flight to OKC next month. It just can't get here fast enough!

That's all the wolf has to howl about....
