Today I went to the OBGYN to have my annual exam done, like I do every February. We discussed how I switched general practitioners
and am also seeing an endocrinoligist and have my thyroid under control and have been working on losing weight this past year. He and the nurse have me jump on the scale and he records my current weight and looks at my weight from last February and says "I'd say you've been working on losing some weight! Do you know how much you've lost since I saw you one year ago?" I told him I had no idea and realize I've been losing 2 or 3 lbs here and there, but that's it. He told me my grand total of weight loss is 40 pounds! Can you believe that?!

I'm so excited! Today I jumped on the scale to see what my weight is and realized I have reached my halfway point and only after 6 weeks! WooHoo! Only 10 more lbs. to go! All I've done is followed doctor's orders of kicking my exercise routine up by adding 2 more days and taking my diet one step further. I also think that having my thyroid medication finally under control has helped too.

After being unemployed for 1 year and not having any luck finding a full time position as a graphic designer, I decided to switch careers, so I can go back to work sometime this spring. I chose a career that I know there is an employment shortage and it will work well with my life as a mom.

I have two children who have night terrors and have had to find ways to work around this issue. This week Chase has had one every night between 9 and 10 pm and once he has one, he doesn't want to go back to sleep and wears himself out by staying up until 2 am when he is so tired that he finally konks out and I'm exhausted. Tonight is the first night in a week we haven't had one, I sure hope we can make it through the rest of the night. Taylor usually has an episode when she is overly exhausted from being overactive during the day or staying up past her bed time. Chase seems to have them when he's upset or stressed about something before bed or if something in his routine is off. I think what triggered his this week was that Taylor had been home from school for 2 weeks over Christmas and she went back on Monday and both kids got new beds for Christmas so we had to do some rearranging in their bedroom. I've discovered that night terrors are somewhat hereditary and that I also had them as a kid, but soon outgrew them. The doctor told me that since I know what triggers them, and if I suspect one of them may have an episode that night, in I can "reset" their sleep pattern before the night terror happens by waking them up about an hour after they fall asleep and keep them up for a few minutes then let them go back to sleep. The reason the terrors happen is because their brains are stuck somewhere in between being awake and asleep. A state I feel like I'm in right now.

Well, so far I have put a big pot of tea on the stove to brew, given both kids baths, gotten them dressed and their hair brushed. I was just about to get myself dressed when I heard someone in the bathroom. There on the step stool stands Chase, with the tub of Vaseline that he had managed to get off the shelf, gooped in his hair and both hands rubbing more onto his head!

How do you get Vaseline out of hair you ask? Well, I don't know....
I decided to get the gooped crap out of his hair and off his hands by stripping him down and tossing him back in the bath and scrubbing with shampoo the best I could. To make a long story short, the remaining Vaseline is acting as hair product for the day and is managing to keep his hair neatly in place.

By the way, two hours later I walk back to the pot of tea on the stove and realize it's just a big pot of water. I never put the tea bags in!

Taylor had her Christmas pageant at school today and it was really cute. The title was "The Tiniest Christmas Star". She played one of the big stars. Her teacher approached me after the play and said how wonderful, funny and talented she is. Looks like we'll be doing the usually Christmas dance from house to house to house, with the exception of one this year because my dad and stepmom will be staying with us. Yah! I love having them here! Makes me feel like a kid again because they sweep in and take over and I get a chance to just chill. Thursday is a big day for me. I turn the big 34!

Taylor has been enjoying her first week ever at Vacation Bible School. This year's theme is a beach party. Each night she talks and talks and talks about what she did on the drive home. She was also given a music CD on her first night to listen to so they can learn their music and dance routine for the program they will be doing for us in church this Sunday. It's absolutely adorable and deafening to listen to her sing at the top of her lungs practicing. She has also showed me some of her moves. One of them is an Elvis move! LOL!

I've lived with this since I was 14 and had a 25 percent chance of having kids. Well, two kids and 19 years later all I can say is here I go again! I went to the doctor's today for an exam and he said something is definitely up, but he won't know exactly what until my ultrasound, which is scheduled for next Friday. If he doesn't find anything on the ultrasound, which I'm sure he won't, then my 3rd exploratory surgery will be taking place. If he does find something at that point, then a possible 4th surgery to correct whatever problem I'm having may be needed.

First it started off with Taylor waking up twice with night terrors early in the night, then Chase woke up twice with night terrors later in the night. Needless to say, I'm exhausted this morning. When my back was turned they decided to get into the Lucky Charms cereal which ended up all over my dining room floor and both their bedroom floors. I spent a good 1/2 hour vacuuming that up, then jumped in the shower. Next thing I know, Taylor comes running into the bathroom screaming that her brother broke her snow globe. So, I grab a towel and run over to the bedroom dripping wet to clean up glass, water, oil and glitter from a broken snow globe. My day can only get better.

Last night was the first night Chase slept in his big boy bed. He did pretty well. He woke up one time because he wanted a drink, other than that, he slept right on through. Instead of getting me up this morning, he ran over to his sister's room and woke her up. He's really enjoying his new freedom. Of course, we've been without a baby gate for a few months now that he's mastered the stairs, but I did put it up during the night in case he gets disoriented so he doesn't go tumbling down them. Once he's used to everything the baby gates will be leaving this house permanently.
