<span style="font-family: arial"><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Arial">The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will offer a special streamside insect walk for families with young children on Saturday, June 8.</span></font></span><br />
<span style="font-family: arial"><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Arial">The event, entitled &quot;Up the Creek,&quot; will be held in Ranson's Flowing Springs Park from9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. It will be aimed at families with children ages 6-9.</span></font></span><br />
<span style="font-family: arial"><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Arial">it will provide youngsters and their parents with a fun opportunity to learn about insects that live in and around streams in our area.</span></font></span><br />
<span style="font-family: arial"><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Arial">Insect nets, magnifying glasses and wading boots will be provided. Participants can bring their own wet-area footwear if they wish</span><span style="font-family: Georgia">.</span></font></span><br />
<span style="font-family: arial"><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Arial">Enrollment will be limited and pre-registration is required. There will be a fee of $5 per family.</span></font></span><br />

<span style="font-family: arial"><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Arial">This event is part of a new Audubon program, called &#8220;Outdoor Explore!,&#8221; that is intended to promote a better understanding and appreciation of the natural world in a safe, supervised way. Its activities include hiking, exploration of different local habitats, plant and animal identification, and other natural science activities.</span></font></span><br />
<span style="font-family: arial"><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Arial">Jan Hummer, an experienced natural science educator, is leading each program session.</span></font></span><br />
<span style="font-family: arial"><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Arial">The program is being made possible by a grant from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.</span></font></span><br />
