Default Mountain View Diner gets Wormie's vote

Mom and I went to Mountain View Diner a few days ago for lunch. It was my first time there. The place is AWESOME. Homey neighborhood diner atmosphere, and the food just rocked. Mom had the roast beef club....it was enough for two large meals and it was PACKED with nice roast beef and fresh crispy bacon....PACKED! The thing was huge! I had the open face Rueben and it was delish, with lots of very nice pastrami. The service was good and I just love the place. Prices were very reasonable, too, especially considering the very good quality and large quantity of food....plan on taking a doggie bag home.

    It's not a bad place.

Cooking's not as good as yours, but still ok.

We usually only go there for Breakfast... and if you like pumpkin ask for their pumpkin pancakes. OMGosh, they are good. They will charge you a little extra to "upgrade" to them on their regular Mt. View breakfast combo, but well worth it. (now I want some!!)

We go there at least once a week. The French Toast in really good, and I agree with Pez about the pumpkin pankcakes, they are awesome!!!! Never had a bad experience there at all..

I just ate there for lunch today. I second Wormie. Good food and large portions. You definitely don't leave hungry.

We used to go a lot. We had to walk out one time after not getting our food and watching those that came in after us get theirs, eat and leave...And another time we had to send food back because it had long black hair in it.

But other than those 2 times we liked it. Though, we are more apt to go to Bob Evans or IHOP now.

Until we get really bad service or hair in our food that is!

I really can care less about hair or feathers. I just pick them out and keep eating. What I really HATE is when I already swallowed half of the hair and pull it .... you get the idea.

Honestly, I prefer breakfast/dinner/lunch at home. It always best and the service is fabulous. AND I never have to leave a tip. Sorry-hijack.

We did go to the Mountain View once and it was ok. We went to Bob Evans twice and it was also just ok. (Bob Evans in Centreville, VA was much better)

When are we getting a Waffle House around here?

I know. The weirdest thing was that I had just gotten them. I opened the little kettle-thingy and there it is swimming around in the tea water. We all laughed that the eggs must be really fresh back there.

Some friends from Va and southern WV were visiting the other day (somehow we all managed to fit into my house!)
Anyway, we decided to have a late breakfast at Mountain View Diner.
I like! The atmosphere is homey, as mentioned...and the portions are HUGE. Service was nice as well. Definitely worth checking out in my opinion. Italian omelet anyone?

As far as the mountain view diner goes...

Stay away from the croutons. Ask for them to be left off whatever salad product you are ordering.

Don't ask me why, because I won't say, but trust me on this one.

And I second Kensey. We *NEED* a Waffle House. I have never ever walked away from a Waffle House disappointed. In fact, Waffle House is where D and I had our first date 11 and a half years ago.

Waffle House is responsible for one of my funniest vacation food stories. I made a mental note to myself after eating dinner there: When you go to Waffle House, don't order chicken.
Have you ever noticed that those who advocate the hardest for personal responsibility never seem to take any when they cause their own negative situations?
