    Default Youth Wrestling/Grappling Club

Hey all. I just wanted to draw your attention to a new wrestling/grappling club in the area. After 3 years coaching in the local Mason Dixon League (lots of kids, lots of travel), I decided to scale back a bit and change focus.

Right now we are enrolling elementary age children (ages 6-12) for beginner/intermediate classes. We will be enrolling teenage and adult wrestlers later in the spring.

This is a great sport for young kids to learn and I am committed to teaching them in a positive and character focused way.

We meet at the Energy Fitness Club in Charles Town 2 nights a week and formal competition is completely optional. Stop by the club or PM me for additional details.
In God we trust. Everyone else, we monitor.

    Default Class Tonight

Weather permitting we will be having wrestling class tonight at Energy Fitness. All elementary age children are welcome to come and check out the club and see if they might like wrestling. 5:30PM to 7:00PM.

You know...Elementary age starts at 5 years, not 6...
Would you accept 5 year olds or no?
My, what a pretty glass house you live in...

Please keep us posted - I have a teen that has expressed an interest in wrestling... It might be a good outlet for using all those new muscles he has.

The decision between 5 and 6 is a tough one. It all depends upon maturity. If the 5 year old is mature enough to listen to instruction and has developed some natural coordination/balance then they do fine. Our sons started at 4 years old. One of them did great, the other (now 6) still finds it hard to stay interested in a 90 minute practice.

You are welcome to bring a 5 year old to a practice and see how they do (trial run). I may ask that dad or mom be willing to take their shoes off and help coach their little one some because it is hard to coach the whole class and still give a 5/6 year old the one-on-one attention they need.

I personally love teaching little ones. If there is enough interest, I will designate some time for just 4 to 6 year olds.
