    Default Ducks grow quickly

It's hard to believe how fast they are growing... They are doubling their size every week.

The first one is from 4/26, the second one is from 5-2, and the third one is from 5-10.

    Funny you should axe...

Our ducks always stayed over the winter. At first because we clipped their wings, but later they just got too darn fat from our corn that they couldn't fly.

Well, Kem, we plan on keeping them around, and I want to build them a duck shack under the deck behind the pond for winter and as a place they can run to if a hawk should happen to stalk them. They are aware when they're being stalked by a hawk, so that's good I guess...

I hope they stay, but they are animals, so if they take off and make a new life elsewhere, I'm not going to take it personally. If I have to bring them into the garage for the winter, I will, but I'd rather not. I've never had ducks before, so I am not sure what to expect from them.

The ducks are adorable, but the pond and the waterfall are very impressive!

Another 4 weeks or so they should be just right to eat.

If you do keep them around and not eat them, duck eggs are excellent for baking.

I never developed a taste for duck eggs. But then, I rarely had the chance, as it seems every other living creature in the neighborhood loved them raw, and always seemed to find the nest before we did. In all our years of keeping ducks, I doubt we would need more than one hand to count the number of newborns.

Yes, we hand-dug the pond. NOT easy.
