Very nice looking place! If what they are offering is as good as their building looks like, the quality must be A+

Looks nice. Maybe they'll have stuff to sell for the holidays.

If you go to their website they say the tours are only on Sunday and they don't have anything YET for sale. Their site does promote local events. I may try again on a Sunday.

A bit late in the season for Limoncello (lemonade & hi-test vodka). The building looks like two distilleries. But since there's only a small chimney on the side, I suspect "Distillery" is just a name and not a function.?

I stopped by Saturday it was no big deal. They don't really distill anything, they just make Limoncello. Don't get me wrong it was good just not the distillery I was curious about.

I'm not a fan of lemonade and don't care for sweet alcholic beverages at all.

    Default Distillery

    Hi All,
Thanks so much for your posts on the Distillery. As someone mentioned, distillery is a bit of a misnomer as we do not distill anything as it's typically known. However we are classified as a distillery with the Feds, as we produce spirits, not wine or beer. We are classified as a mini-distillery with WV.

As a mini-distillery, we are a WV agri-business, like a farm winery. We can't distill moonshine, because in WV we have to grow 25% of our raw agricultural ingredients, and there's no way we'd be able to grow enough grain or corn to do that. So on our acreage, we grow lemons and raspberries. Yes, lemons in WV! We do however start with 190 proof and get it down to 20-30 proof fruit cordials.

Someone also mentioned that we only give tours on Sundays, which isn't correct. That information came from our Grand Opening. We thought we'd be able to be open on Sundays for tastings and tours, but then the WV ABCA board informed us this week that we can't sell on Sundays because of WV's blue law. No sale or tasting of spirits on Sundays on the property We still opted to hold the Grand Opening, but we just had to give tours on Sunday.

Going forward we'll be open Fridays and Saturdays, 11 am - 8 pm for tastings and tours, with live music from 6-8 pm. Stop by and see what we're all about. The building has so much history associated with it. It's pretty awesome.

    Thumbs up

Thanks for the response, llosey. Some of us, myself included, are going to be interested in WV Lemons. I've bought a few in my day, but they were equipped with wheels. I know some of our viewers:

will be disappointed but it's nifty and I'm looking forward to a visit.

PCEC, Yes we're (I'm Losey junior) open this coming Friday (and Saturday) 11am - 8pm.

Mom wanted me to highlight that there'll be live music, again, (and hopefully regularly, because it is amazing!) from 6pm to 8pm.

Thanks for the shout out on the building, too - it was a blast to renovate, but it's nice to hear that a fresh pair of eyes likes it, too! (And in my humble opinion the hooch and the house are equally excellent).

Closey, I'm looking forward to stopping by! I've been curious since I saw the signs. See you Saturday most likely.

I read the history on your page and it was really interesting and clearly and concisely written. Worth a trip up there just to see the house and property. I think Big Tom was looking for a Still!

Posting the band schedule might be a good idea?
A sign on 9 that indicates that you all are only open on Fri and Sat might not be a bad idea either.

Although we saw the grand opening signs for the weekend, we pulled in as a weekend kick off might just indicate that you are open for regular business type hours starting from that weekend. BTW, thanks for having a turn around area cleared by the chain :-)

    Hi,
Thanks for the great suggestions. This past weekend was our actual Grand Opening, which was terrific. We're almost sold out of our 375 ml. products, who'd a thunk? We're very excited about the reception

I left the signs out on RTE 9 as another "raindate" Grand Opening on Saturday, but we're also open on Friday. I have to work on the actual signage for everything as well as updating the website in between working my real job It's been crazy in trying to get it all done 24/7, but we're getting there!

I'll post the names of the performers on the website as I get those in. Deane Kern, who's appearing on Saturday night, is taking care of that for me.

Glad you enjoyed the history. It means a lot to me.

Keep those suggestions coming in. They're very helpful
    See you soon.

The proper spelling is Limoncello. It's a sweet lemon infused cordial, good as an after dinner drink. The people I've known in the past that make it are usually Italian. I did know a guy from Tennessee that made something similar from corn whiskey, he called it lemon drop.
Lar I wasn't looking for a still (I already know where one of those is) I just looking to swap some recipes. There used to be an old moonshiner, who lived near where this new place is, who apparently made a damn good corn wiskey and supplied most of this area with their spirits.

That's a good way to phrase it - much better than my own "sugary lemonade and high test vodka". I love a tall glass of it on a hot summer day with lots of ice.
