Odd Visitor

This afternoon a gold-ish van pulled up in front of our house. It parked out on the road - and with our slope on Wrens View Ln - it is not a great idea. One smallish young man came to the door and when I answered with my 100 pound mastiff/lab mix barking like a killer - he handed me a roll of Bounty paper towels. He said that he was from a new business in town - I didn't catch the name - and was demonstrating some products. I stated that I work from home and was working on a project and that it wasn't a good time. It will never be a good time - I don't even know why I answered the door except that I was expecting my son to arrive home around that time and thought maybe he was locked out. I noticed over his shoulder that there were two or three other men in the van. He didn't take my no for an answer and told me that if he did one more demo today that his boss will let him go home for the day. I know these are "sales" tactics - but with all of the break-ins in the area - I didn't know exactly what this was about. I think they wanted to come into my house to see what we have.

Has anybody else seen these people in our neighborhood?

Yes. They came to my house yesterday. I did not like the vibe and he gave me the same pitch. I don't care if they are a legit business. There is just too much weird stuff going on around here to let a salesperson in -especially when they come in a group in a car.

seen a gold van at around 4:30 on Pheasant lane (gate 1) with sheriff deputy behind it.. blues flashing. same one perhaps and somebody got wise and called LE on them.

No one should feel hesitant about calling 9-1-1 in the above instances. In fact, the Sheriff, at his meetings, has encouraged it. With all the crap going on around here, he said they are more than happy to check out your suspicions. If the persons are legit, they won't mind being stopped and questioned. If they do object, well.... I'd suspect that AT LEAST, they are doing biz w/o a license. Hey, if I'm wrong, those involved can contact me with the particulars.

And take your camera to the door and take their picture. Let them see you do it. Bet they don't come back. Is there anyway we can find out what happened with this police stop?

A door-to-door sales call???? Can that really be productive? I would be disturbed by this type of unsolicited contact.

About three weeks ago I confronted and asked a person looking at the house close to me for identification. He showed me a Private Investigator badge but I called the Sheriff's office just in case. I think he was lying to me for he was alone and he was looking for a non-existing home address. I asked him what he was planning on doing, telling him he was attracting a lot of attention, and he said, "He would go back to Mission and Lower Clubhouse and wait for his supervisor." "I told him that was a good idea."

Wow, thank you all for the warning. Haven't seen anything but will be sure to get a description and possibly a license plate to pass on to LE. geez, when will this stop.

Yep, visited my house yesterday, took the paper towels back when I wouldn't let him in to demonstrate his carpet cleaning....... minor detail, I don't have carpets.

this doesn't strike me as odd but growing up in mt airy md as a kid i remember a few ppl knocking on the door doingt this one was simple green way before they sold it at stores. yes kinda odd for up here but heck the dang meat ppl flood the mtn in the summer i get tired of seeing them

so we just had ANOTHER visit from people wanting to clean our floors but no bouny like yesterday. this time they were in a marroon subaru outback. he flashed a flyer, i told him to leave it outside so i could read it later (my dogs were loudly barking and kids yelling so i answer thru the window). he said no they would only be here today. he said he could come back later, i said no leave the flyer and he wouldnt leave one. hows that for trying to get customers. the flyer said something like Donn?? as the company. Anyway they walked on down the road and I ook pictures of the car and got pics of 3 of the 4 people as they walked back. let me know if anyone needs these pics for any reason.

We live in a development, cul de sac deal..in NC...many times people come door to door....one guy selling cleaning products too...he cleaned my neighbors shoes, and the mirror on my car..I was in my car when he came..so I dont know if he would have tried to come inside....also we have people that come and pull down here in a huge truck and try to sell furniture out of it, also people come to the door that say they work for a well known investment company, the name escapes me right now. And a few other times as well...my point it...yes , some people still do this....
