Default Dedication of Children's Library with Special Guest Author Malcolm Ater - April 14

Please join us for the dedication of the Mt. Mission Community Library's Children's Room on Saturday, April 14. Local young adult author, educator and coach Malcom Ater will be our special guest, talking about his book Tyler's Mountain Magic, about a Shannondale boy with cystic fibrosis and "the most magical sports ride in West Virginia public school history." Just this past week it was selected as a 2012 Pinnacle Book Achievement Award winner for sports. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing. His new book, The Hermitage House, which will be a great book for middle school students and young adults, will be coming out this spring. The library will be open from 1-4 pm, with the dedication at 1:30 pm. This program is sponsored in part, by a grant from

My new web cast, "Talk of the Mountain," is featuring Mr Ater in a live video stream on April 14. We're hoping to show more speakers from the MCC and other internet-connected venues. For the live segment at 1:30 p.m., point your browser at:

Just checking to see if anyone on the north side of Route 9 on The Mountain received a blue newsletter from The Community Center yesterday or today. We mailed out another 700 of them on Wednesday.

I was bad and didn't get pics of the Children's Library- Duh, the purpose of the event But others were taking photos and hopefully they have some images to contribute.
Below are a few of the small but enthusiastic crowd and Author Ater's very interesting presentation.
    Our Librarian introduces Malcolm Ater

Author Ater tells us about Tyler, the inspiration for his book.

I'd encourage all to read the book

Tiffany Lawrence, who was instrumental in the MCC getting money for our library, listens beside John Maxey (candidate for the 66th state delegate district)

You might want to think about also sending them out to the Harper's Ferry Post Office Boxes. We, along with most of our neighbors do not get our mail here on the mountain. Most of us are business owners and/or work from home. We get checks mailed to us. I sure as hell don't trust having checks sent to these mail sheds. I see a ton of people from the mountain checking their mail at the Post Office when I do.

Just something to think about. We NEVER get anything pertaining to the mountain in the mail.
If people weren't so ignorant, self-absorbed, and down right stupid, I wouldn't be so Bitchy all the time.

I updated the video to include more photos from Willis' coverage of the event and a view of the current children's room at the MCC Library. See:
