Deputy Reserve Academy is first in state

CHARLES TOWN - Once again Jefferson County is taking the lead in West Virginia, this time by establishing the first Deputy Sheriff Reserve Academy in the Mountain State.

The academy began its first session last week as nine potential reservists met to receive the introduction to the three-month program. Organized by current reservist Joe Malcolm and Jefferson County Deputies Ben Williams and Allan Thomas, the program has received the blessing of Sheriff Robert "Bobby" Shirley...
